Yeah.

[And then he's quiet until the end of the movie, other than the occasional laugh or riff of his own (and requests for the wine bottle, of course). When the credits roll, he sinks back into the mattress.]

-- Royce. Royce, I fucking love the future, all right; fucking brilliant what they come up with. Home televisions. DVDs.

[bywolves]

[ Royce joins him in the occasional riffing -- but he doesn't laugh during the movie nearly as hard as he does when Alfie sinks back and goes on about the future. Royce practically giggles - they've finished the bottle by this point and Royce is pretty sloshed. ]

Yeah. Yeah, they've got some good ideas, your future. Films and - and watching films to make fun of them.

[devoutish]

You're laughing at me now.

[He arches an eyebrow.]

[bywolves]

A little. Just - you're excited. I like that.

[devoutish]

Because the future is fucking spectacular. Yes.

[bywolves]

Mm. Yeah. Because the future is fucking spectacular.

[devoutish]

[bywolves]

[ He leans up to kiss Alfie's cheek. Totally sloshed. ]

You're more.

[devoutish]

No, no, no.

[He tries to pat Royce's hand, but ends up patting his wrist instead. A+ for effort.]

[bywolves]

[ He giggles again, and then sinks back down into the mattress. ]

Okay. Fine.

[devoutish]

Mm.

[Clumsily, he tries to pull Royce back on top of him again.]

I wonder what the dog thinks about seeing us like this. And the cat.

[bywolves]

[ Royce clumsily goes, curling up with him. ]

Don't know. Probably thinks it's like with them. Lady sleeps on Bear more than half the time.

[devoutish]

[Alfie grins, pressing his face down into Royce's shoulder.]

I meant drunk.

[bywolves]

Oh. [ A beat, and then Royce just cackles helplessly into his shoulder. ]

[devoutish]

You are also-- you're also fucking ridiculous, mate. More than me.

[bywolves]

I'm drunk, is what I am. [ Royce corrects, nosing up against Alfie's jaw. ] It's hard enough to recognize what you're saying when I'm sober, let alone tipsy.

[devoutish]

Fuggoff.

[He murmurs, purposefully slurring into incomprehensibility even more for the sole purpose of being a shit. He angles his face to give Royce better access, enjoying the touch.]

[bywolves]

[ He laughs again, but doesn't say much more. He's half a bottle of wine drunk, which means he's way more touchy than normal. With a hum, he keeps nosing at Alfie's jaw for a bit before getting tired and sinking down to rest his head on Alfie's chest, instead.

Something in him protests, but he ignores it, yawning. ]

[devoutish]

[Alfie shivers a little, but it's a good shiver. Keep spoiling him, please. When Royce pulls away to rest, he makes a tiny grumpy sound in protest, but immediately settles his hand on Royce's head to stroke his fingers through his hair.]

[bywolves]

[ Have the most content sigh in the entire world, Alfie. Floaty and sleepy and being petted is the best physical state in the world. Absently, Royce strokes his fingers over the tank top Alfie's wearing, barely paying attention. ]

Have you - have you ever... [ Royce starts, then then stops. ]

[devoutish]

Mmm?

[He yawns too, sinking further into the mattress.]

[bywolves]

[ A pause, then: ] Mm. Nothing. I'm - making thoughts into words is hard, at the moment.

[devoutish]

[He pats Royce's cheek, suppressing another yawn.]

[bywolves]

[ Nooo, he's yawning too. ]
