[Meulin is equally as content to keep kissing him, curled up on his lap. Teasing aside, this is the most relaxed she's been in a long time.]

One loaf of marble rye bread
A handful of spring flowers

It's spring now, get outside!

[devoutish]

[A few hours later, she gets a return note in her mailbox.]

Meet me at the lake.

[She does indeed show up at the lake. She's taking full advantage of the new weather, wearing short sleeves and nice dresses again. Today she's embracing the theme of the day, flowers, and a keen eye might notice she's actually wearing some jewelry, a necklace and a few bracelets. It might not be quite warm enough for the clothing she's wearing but she's an optimist and anything but snow will do.

The lake isn't particularly big but she does wander a little, trying to spot him between the trees]

[devoutish]

[He's not hard to find, once she gets down to the water. He's sitting at the edge, shoes off and feet in, and he looks up when she approaches.

Fucking hell, it's a relief to not see snow and ice.

[furgood]

I know exactly what you mean. [She walks over, slipping off her shoes as she goes] I missed grass. And warm air and being able to walk outside without a half dozen layers. [She spins in place, dancing a few steps as she tries to catch her balance and then collapsing into a seat beside him] I knew you shouldn't stay up all cooped up.

[devoutish]

Mmmmm.

[Once she's on the ground and sitting next to him, he holds out a hand for her to take.]

Nah, I've not been cooped up.

[Yes, Alfie, you totally have. Going from the house to the treehouse does not count as "going out".]

And now it's spring, I'll be out and about even more, eh? I'm going on a camping trip.

[furgood]

[She looks skeptical. ] Sure you haven't.

[She requires her fingers with his and looks up, a little startled ] Camping? Going up to the mountains maybe?

[devoutish]

Maybe, yeah. Not as far as the snow, but we might reach the foothills.

[furgood]

Didn't picture you as one for camping. Taking Emily too?

[devoutish]

Yeah. She needs an adventure. And Royce...

[He scratches at his beard with his free hand.]

Royce needs a distraction.

[furgood]

Ah...[She wants to ask. But she won't ] Well I'm sure Emily will enjoy it. She seems like the type. If you're going through the jungle, I bet she'd adore that.

[devoutish]

There are those giant bugs out there, yeah? I'll take her to see those, someday. Royce doesn't like 'em much.

[furgood]

[Laughs] So I hear. I mostly go for the food. Not too far in.

[She squeezes his hand ] Everything okay?

[devoutish]

Yeah. We're all right. But life can still be difficult, even in a place like this.

[furgood]

Life is like that...[Hums ] It felt like winter lasted forever you know...

[devoutish]

Does the winter bother you?

[furgood]

It's beautiful... But I don't like the cold. Or the way snow gets everything wet and you feel even colder.

[devoutish]

Mm.

[Yeah, he feels that.]

But hot baths and warm blankets - those are lovely in the winter.

[furgood]

I didn't say it was all awful. Those are what make it bearable. Though I have to admit, getting out of the bath is the worst part. You don't have as much wet hair, you wouldn't understand.

[devoutish]

I've got a wet beard.

[furgood]

[She reaches over and tugs his beard, though very gently ] Oh you poor thing. I'm sure it's a perfect comparison to all this.

[She shakes her head, sending her hair whipping about ]

[devoutish]

Oi. Imagine this dripping into your mouth.

[He grins, gesturing to his mustache.]

[furgood]

I love that you think my hair doesn't get in my mouth.
