[He resists again, but it's more playful than serious.]

[He pulls himself to his feet and wades in, reaching out to pull her in for a kiss. That's encouragement, isn't it?]

[She has to shift to keep her footing at first but when he pulls her in for a kiss, she laughs ] I'm counting this. [She leans up to kiss him ]

[He lingers in the kiss for a few long moments before pulling back to ask:]

[She gestures out with one hand, the other settled on his arm ] You're in the lake. Fair is fair.

[devoutish]

Yeah, I am.

[He fiddles with a strand of her hair.]

Do you swim here, or only in the ocean?

[furgood]

[Grin ] It didn't even occur to me to swim here. I had a bit of a one track mind. It'd been nearly a year since I'd swam in the ocean.

[devoutish]

Well, it's the other way round for me - I've gone swimming here, but not in the ocean.

[He's waded in the ocean, but that doesn't count, in his mind.]

[furgood]

Well now I know what to drag you into come summer. [She looks down and kicks her for a little to splash him] Probably too cold for you now.

[devoutish]

I'd like to try my hand at sailing, as well.

[furgood]

[Her face lights up] Of course. You're always welcome. But it's nicer in the summer. Warmer.

[devoutish]

You'll teach me, I hope.

[furgood]

Nope. [Teasing] Going to push you into a boat and see how it goes. Sink or swim. Literally.

[devoutish]

[He huffs, amused.]

I'll sail around the bay and show you up.

[furgood]

I'll gladly bow to your prowess if yippy can manage it. I give you fifty fifty odds of hitting a breaker wrong and flipping the boat.

I know it's a typo/autocorrect but I'm lol'ing at "yippy" I'm sorry

[She bites her lip. Trying not to laugh at you Alfie] The waves closer to shore? The ones that like to crash on you if you're too close to the beach.

It's a term, you know. Or I guess you didn't know. You're not winning any seafarer points here.

We never called 'em breakers when we visited the shore, we just called 'em big fuck-off waves that are making their way towards our heads.

[furgood]

Well, yes they're that too. You have to sail into them, not at an angle. Sort of like how you should dive into them.

[devoutish]

Mm. Would that be why my brother was pulled under once, because he didn't dive in at an angle? Hit his head on a rock, that time.

[furgood]

Or it could have had weird currents. I couldn't tell you why unless I was there. But I'm sorry he hit his head. Never pleasant to have something happen when you're tumbling.
