Do you have interest in me seeing the Capitol?

[furgood]

[Pause ] I don't know. There's beautiful things there but a lot of awful things happened there. Happened in Four and Thirteen too. But I don't want to show you those.

[devoutish]

Sounds to me like the true beautiful things are in Four.

[The Capitol's beauty always rings false to him, when he hears it described.]

You're biased. It's what I've told you about.

[devoutish]

All the beautiful things are not in the Capitol, at the very least. I don't need to be biased to know that.

[furgood]

[Faintest smile ] There can be beauty in the most horrific things. Whether you can see it or not.

You know, I did bring you a present.

[devoutish]

I know you did. Food and a present.

[He affectionately tucks a lock of hair behind her ear.]

Would you like me to open it now, then?

[furgood]

Yes, yes let me just-- [She snags the box from where she'd set it down and places it in his hands. It's relatively small. ]

Had to wish for this.

[devoutish]

[Something special, then. He meets her eyes for a moment, then looks down at the little package so he can start to carefully unwrap it.]

[furgood]

[Its hard to keep still while he opens tree box. She bounces on her heels. Within is a ring with a a green cats eye gem.]

[devoutish]

[Oh, wow. He takes it out very carefully and examines it, setting the box aside and turning the ring over in his hands before slipping it onto his middle finger, right next to one of the rings he already wears. He then holds his hand out for her inspection. Nice, eh?]

[furgood]

[Tiny smile] Fits in well, I think.

[devoutish]

Yeah. Fits the gap left behind by the one I gave to Royce, as well.

[He pulls his hand back, admiring it.]

It's gorgeous. Thank you.

[furgood]

[Laughs and twists a curl of hair around her finger]

Glad to help. It seemed like something you might like. Well I made it up but...

[devoutish]

The stone's a good one.

[He taps it with a fingernail.]

And I know stones.

[furgood]

Is it? I just picked that sort of stone because--well, it's cats eye and I'm an awful purrson. [Grin ] Now you're part of my theme.

[devoutish]

I'm gonna wear this every day.

[He really will, too. He basically only takes his rings off to sleep or bathe.]

[furgood]

[Grin ] Good. [She kisses his cheek and hums ] I'm glad, it's slightly more difficult to do presents when I don't have places to window shop for ideas.

[devoutish]

[He rests his fingers on her chin, turning her face for a peck on the lips.]

You realize this means even your gifts are puns.

[furgood]

[There's a brief attempt to pretend seriousness but her lips tremble with a smile and her eyes dance ] Now you know my secret. It's just puns the whole way down.
