Not so awful; I've had them before.

[He nudges her, then sets his empty cake plate aside.]

He does like me, too. We've got a contentious sort of relationship, but we're friends.

Why so contentious? What happened?

[devoutish]

No one thing in particular. The first time we met in person I did hold a knife to this throat, but that was a symptom, right, not the issue itself.

[furgood]

[Shakes her head ] Guess I'm glad we meet on a beach. Most people might take offense to that you know.

[devoutish]

There were extenuating circumstances involved.

But we sorted it, as best we could. We fight sometimes and get on other times, but we're still friends.

[Hum] Well, good. I think your a pretty good friend. In my purrsonal opinion. You've given me pushes when I need it.

[He pecks her on the lips.]

Are far less infuriating than John. Prettier, as well.

I hope so. Someone has to be the voice of reason in this place.

[She's up near dawn, for once, but she doesn't come bother him til nearer nine. She has plans.]

[None of which is evident when she shows up on his doorstep empty handed and knocking... quietly ]

Have you told Royce I'm stealing you? Don't want him to fret. [Grin ]

[He shouts back into the house.]

I'm being stolen. I'll be back near dinnertime.

[He raises his eyebrows at Meulin. Does near dinnertime sound doable?]

[Casually shouted over his shoulder as she takes his hand ] I'll return him in purefect condition!

Are you sure that's a promise that you can make?

[He squeezes her hand, shutting the door behind them.]

Well mostly purrfect. [Winning smile ] Depends on your ability to not get seasick.

[devoutish]

I'm all right on boats. Are we sailing on the ocean?

[furgood]

I promised you a sail once the stagger turned. I just have somewhere to go now.

[He squeezes her hand again as they head off towards the shore.]
