I would've caught myself. Even drunk I have my reflexes. [ Royce says, dismissively. He is underestimating how drunk he was. ] Shouldn't have drank so much, regardless. I hope you didn't need to babysit me.

[devoutish]

No more than you've had to babysit me.

[bywolves]

I don't babysit you. [ Royce huffs, hiding his face against Alfie's shoulder. ] You don't typically get so drunk that you can't remember anything.

[devoutish]

Neither do you, mate.

[bywolves]

[ A pause, and then he sighs. ]

No. No, I don't.

[devoutish]

It's okay. I was concerned, that's all.

[bywolves]

Time being strange in that world bothered me more than I thought, I suppose. [ And other things, but he doesn't remember talking about them. ]

[devoutish]

Mm; you didn't mention that at all, actually.

[bywolves]

Did I not? [ He frowns. ] I don't remember. Like I said.

[devoutish]

You talked about Kid, you talked about my death.

[bywolves]

[ There's a hint of tense anticipation that hits Royce and tightens up his muscles. ]

Kid used something to tell that I'm mir. And then explained to me that it is commonly understood that he has a power that allows him to see people's souls and has no control over it, except for the fact that he does, because he used it on me.

[ Just gonna gloss over the death part. ]

[devoutish]

Yeah, I know. You told me. You don't want me to take care of him?

[bywolves]

No. [ Royce says, quietly. ] Threatening him will do nothing. It's a far better alternative to ignore him completely. That would hurt him more.

[devoutish]

Gonna keep that?

[He makes a playful swipe for it.]

[devoutish]

I dunno, he's easily upset. Easily intimidated.

[bywolves]

I don't need to hear it from Renart about how we're bullying him, Alfie.

[devoutish]

What, they're friends?

[bywolves]

No, but she defended him because he gave some excuse about not having a mother, and I don't want to hear about it.

[devoutish]

[Alfie grunts.]

Seems a pattern with her.

[bywolves]

Mmf. Wasn't entirely pleased with her either when it came to talking about children.

... Thank you for speaking up when you did.

[devoutish]

Yeah.

[He nuzzles his nose into Royce's shoulder.]

Yeah, anytime.

[furgood]

I might. [Grins and drapes it over her arms like a shawl] I took it off all by myself, fair is fair.

[bywolves]

[ He goes quiet, head pounding. Maybe he pets a bit at wherever he's got a hold on Alfie, out of a desire to comfort both of them. ]

[devoutish]

[Alfie's quiet too, musing for a few minutes before finally speaking again. Softly, he asks:]

How often do you think about my dying of old age?

[devoutish]

Does that mean I get some of your things?

[His hands trail down to whatever she's wearing as a lower garment, searching for buttons or ties.]
