[ Aw, Alfie. This makes Royce feel better. ] I don't have any intentions of speaking to him, either. He can rot.

He was going to tell the Admin I killed House. I don't know if he did or not.

[devoutish]

I'll ask him. We should know.

[bywolves]

Mm.

You need to hear my version of what happened. To know if he left anything else out. I want to know.

[devoutish]

I was trying to sleep. Ecks caught me unaware. Held scissors to my throat, stepped on my broken finger, and told me she knew I killed House. I told her why I did it. Because he broke a rule. [ This seems to be helping. He sounds like he's calming down further as he runs through it. ]

Watson came in. Called her to his side. She did. He asked what was going on, I told him. I told him so he'd know I wasn't provoking her, that she did it on her own. He jumped to deciding I needed to be tied up and kept away from everybody. He also said he'd tell the Admin.

I told him I refused to be tied up. That he could lock me in the room. That I didn't plan on killing either of them. Didn't want to. Watson insisted on tying me up. I warned him three times not to touch me. He said he didn't trust me. I said he could call Tifa to ask her for the truth. He said he'd do it after he tied me up.

He jumped me. Twisted my wrist. I tried to get free. Ecks sst -- [ Pause. Breath. ] Ecks stabbed me in the throat. Without warning. I had no time to react.

[devoutish]

He didn't tell me he'd tell the Admin, and he didn't tell me you'd offered to cooperate. He did tell me you'd said you wouldn't do it again. Let out the part about allowing yourself to be locked up.

[bywolves]

Of course. [ He thinks he'll be more angry later. For now, he's just tired. ] Makes him look better.

Wasn't going to let them drag me around as a prisoner. But that night I wasn't going to fight them.

[devoutish]

More likely he just forgot. He's not interested in making himself look better now.

[But Alfie is still pissed, because it's an important detail to have left out, purposefully or not.

He pauses, then snaps:]

I hope this haunts him.

[bywolves]

It will. He's that type.

She's going to get away with killing me, you know.

[devoutish]

Oh, you haven't heard. He's taking responsibility for her.

[You can just hear the eyeroll in his voice.]

Yeah, he even offered to let me attack him in place of her, in case I was feeling mindlessly vengeful.

[bywolves]

[ Snort - and then he laughs. It's his mean laugh. ]

She needs to take the responsibility. She did it. [ A beat. ] He really does not understand. I told him I wanted nothing to do with House anymore. He just thinks we aim to be needlessly violent.

[devoutish]

What - do you mean to say I don't give off the impression of unending bloodlust?

[In response, she gets a photograph of a teddy bear - he collects them to rip apart to use the fabric and stuffing for things, as she might have noticed when he made the sling. It has his scalpel propped up in its paw, and a couple of his other homemade weapons sitting on the floor in front of it.]

Bandit stuffed bear.

[plundering]

[Fiona laughs. He's ridiculous.]

You've practically got an armory going on there.

[devoutish]

[He comes back on audio now.]

I'm alive. And so is Duster.

[plundering]

Nice. When did he come back?

[devoutish]

This morning.

[There's a hang to the words - something unspoken.]

[plundering]

And?

[devoutish]

[And.]

He'd offered to cooperate. Said he would allow himself to be locked in a room and kept under watch, as long as he wasn't tied up and left completely defenseless. Watson refused.

Watson also planned to report him to the Admin--

[His voice, already tight, gets even more so now. He clearly isn't one of the people who finds it easy to believe that the Admin has their best interests at heart.]

-- despite admitting to me that he had no idea what the Admin would do.

I cannot be around him, knowing that he does these things and still calls himself a good man, an everyday man. A better man.

[plundering]

[Fiona is silent for a long moment, and then she sighs.]

Shit.

[Well, that's another thing she's going to have to talk to Watson about.]

I didn't know.

[devoutish]

Yeah.

I'm not gonna hurt him.

[He figures she's probably worried about that.]

[plundering]

[Weirdly, she figured he wouldn't.]

I don't know what he was thinking.

[devoutish]

[He appreciates that she seems to understand why he's upset, honestly.]

Not trying to put you in the middle of anything either, yeah?

[That's also important for her to know. But he's upset - and he'd kept it out of his voice with Watson, but he's not trying so hard to with her.]

[She can tell he's upset, and she actually appreciates that he's not hiding it.]
