I'm all right! I slept a lot - the fever made me dream strange things, but they were only dreams. Did you get your supplies? Are you free now?

I assume Vicodin is medicine. Pain reliever?

Yeah, I'm free. I'm walking with Dr. Watson. He's got me sorted with food and clothes, and I'm gonna get the rest of my things from Duster soon. I'm still in the tunnels. I'm gonna need to rest for a day or two before starting the long walk over.

[The past several days have not been kind to him.]

[Whatever House goes through in a week will probably last Alfie for the rest of his time in Norfinbury.]

It seems people are also prone to forming addictions.

I never thought that. [The response is instant. She doesn't think he really needs the reassurance, but perhaps she needs it. That he's alive, and will be careful, and will keep his word.]

But you mustn't go too soon if you aren't well. It's all gone away now, but - but we don't really know if it would stay away, do we?

I will. [ See, now he's glad he was paranoid. He's had plenty of times where he could've taken them but didn't. ]

Think he's prone to addiction? [ It'd explain why he'd be willing to deal with Alfie after everything, in Royce's opinion. ]

We don't know much of anything, no.

[And he hates that more than he's letting on. He's not used to being in complete control, even as the leader of his gang - his world and the people he deals with are just too unpredictable for that. But he's used to understanding how to operate in the environment that he's in, and he just... doesn't here. Here, he survives, but he doesn't thrive.]
