[ He nods a little, and then goes quiet. He'll say quiet until they get back to the house - and by the time they do, the ringing has subsided. His head hurts a little, but his hearing is mostly back to normal.

He drops the rabbit in a bowl on the counter, and then stops to run water and sort of just - regroup. ]

[devoutish]

[Alfie tries not to hover, but he does stick close by, only leaving to quickly duck into the bedroom to stash his gun away again.

When he comes back out, he's carrying a crayon drawing that he'd found on the nightstand.]

[bywolves]

[ This time, he hears Alfie say his name, and he looks over his shoulder. There's relief on his face. ]

What? [ And then he registers the crayon drawing. ] Is that from Zephyr?

[devoutish]

Mm.

[He passes the note over.]

Wanna go see the skylight?

[bywolves]

[ He smiles, finally. ]

Yeah. Come on, I'll do the rabbit later. [ He'll just shove it in the fridge?? ] I specified it'd be by the beach. The treehouse.

[ A pause. ] And I can hear again.

[devoutish]

Tell me if you can hear the water, when we get down there.

[bywolves]

I will. [ He gives his ears a rub one more time, and then gestures to the door. ] Shall we? No idea where it's at other than near the beach.

[devoutish]

Let's stop by the rec center first.

[He wants to nab those DVDs.]

[bywolves]

Mm. I can get us coffee.

[ He's kind of developed a taste for it. ]

[devoutish]

Coffee. You should be drinking tea with an accent like yours.

[Out the door they go!]

[bywolves]

[ Royce actually laughs at that. ]

Glass accents shouldn't throw stones, Solomons.

[devoutish]

Yeah, mate, but I drink tea.

[bywolves]

Then you'll have to brew your own tea, and I'll get myself a coffee.

[ nyehhh ]

What has this world done to deserve seeing you caffeinated?

[He's absolutely going to rib Royce all the way to the beach, deal with it.]

Tea has caffeine in it, Solomons, and I've had that before.

There's also decaf.

[devoutish]

Yeah, but you're not drinking that, are you.

[bywolves]

No. And I don't plan on seeing the rest of the world today, so it's you that has to deal with me caffeinated.

[devoutish]

[The hermiting, he means. He makes a mental note to snag some food as they walk past the Chinese takeout tree.]

Yeah. Not dealing with the world for a bit.

... Yeah. [ Royce nudges him in the direction of the rec center, which is close by. ] Have to break in the new tree house. Takes a whole day to do.

At least. We'll be lucky if we're out of it by tomorrow night.

Half of that is going to be sleeping. I made sure to wish the bed extra comfortable.
