[Grins ] A little big for it, unless the aim is it knock me over. I think not though.

[Meulin sweeps over to the nearest table and sets down her things ] Those are for you--[She walks over and kisses his cheek ] This is for you--[She bobs down and scratches Bear behind the ears ] And this is for you .

[devoutish]

Look at you, spoiling me.

[But it's far from a real admonishment, judging by the grin on his face. He reels her in, pecking her on the lips.]

The things in the boxes, are they sharable?

[furgood]

[She smiles against his lips and shrugs ] I'm allowed to, it's your birthday.

And what does shareable mean? The thing on the plate is made for you and everyone else here, the other is for you. I mean, I guess you could share it. Sort of. It's your gift though.

[devoutish]

Shareable right now means shareable with you.

[He shoots her a wink, then goes to lift the cover on the plate.]

[furgood]

Oh is that it? [She bumps his hip with hers and hums ] See, I'm not sure how good this will be, it's my first try.

[It's a cake! A basic yellow cake, frosted in a thin layer because the sheer amount of butter and sugar in it have her Districter sensibilities a heart attack. Slices of peaches are arranged on top, a little haphazardly.]

[devoutish]

[It looks good, at least - obviously homemade, which is really what he likes best. Without a word, he picks it up and goes to carry it into the kitchen, tugging her along if she'll let him.]

[furgood]

[He tugs her along as she laughs and shares her head. ] I make no promises about taste you know.

[devoutish]

Well, you're gonna try it with me. You're not getting out of this.

[And he does in fact get out two plates and two forks, cutting them each a generous slice. Bon appetit!]

[furgood]

Nooo, you're going to try it first at least. Your birthday.

[She looks determined. For what it's worth, it's not a bad cake. A little tough from overmixing but the taste is fine. ]

[devoutish]

[Well, okay. He clinks his empty fork against hers, then digs in.]

Mmmm-- it's good; it honestly is. Did you grow these peaches?

[furgood]

[Laughs ] No but I picked and cut them up myself which is not at all the same.

[She takes a bite and looks thoughtful ] I could do better. It's good but if I get another shot, it'll be better.

[devoutish]

You're a perfectionist. It's very good. I'm gonna save a bit for Royce and Emily.

[But for now... yeah, he'll be polishing off this slice and cutting himself another.]

[furgood]

No no, not really. I've just had some really excellent cake to compare it to. Capitol loves their cakes.

[The cake might be pretty good but she's far more happy to watch him devour it. Poor Emily and Royce might be getting some very small portions.]

I didn't know you had such a sweet tooth. Good to know.

[devoutish]

When I gave you baked goods, that wasn't a hint?

[furgood]

Bread isn't sweet. Well. Mostly. [Grin ] And yet I get such dirty looks for my tea.

[devoutish]

Ah, tea's different. Tea's not meant to be drowned in sugar. Bread, though-- some breads.

[furgood]

Says you. [Huff ] Maybe I'll try cookies sometime. I've never even thought about those.

[devoutish]

What sort of cookies would you make?

[furgood]

I don't know. Maybe something chocolate? It feels like a copout to use chocolate when I can just get it from a tree? Though I used the peaches.

[devoutish]

Having chocolate that grows on trees seems to me to be all the more reason to use it.

[furgood]

I had a nice cookie once that had bits of chocolate in it. I'll look in the library for something like it. I'm sure you'll be my willing subject on these experiments.

[devoutish]

You're gonna make me very fat, aren't you.

[furgood]

And then I'll make you swim and sail with me to work it all off. It's my very cunning plan.

[She takes a bite and hums around her fork] I need more hobbies anyways.

[devoutish]

What's wrong with the ones you've got?

[furgood]

Nothing at all. They just don't take up all my time really.
