Says you. [Huff ] Maybe I'll try cookies sometime. I've never even thought about those.

[devoutish]

What sort of cookies would you make?

[furgood]

I don't know. Maybe something chocolate? It feels like a copout to use chocolate when I can just get it from a tree? Though I used the peaches.

[devoutish]

Having chocolate that grows on trees seems to me to be all the more reason to use it.

[furgood]

I had a nice cookie once that had bits of chocolate in it. I'll look in the library for something like it. I'm sure you'll be my willing subject on these experiments.

[devoutish]

You're gonna make me very fat, aren't you.

[furgood]

And then I'll make you swim and sail with me to work it all off. It's my very cunning plan.

[She takes a bite and hums around her fork] I need more hobbies anyways.

[devoutish]

What's wrong with the ones you've got?

[furgood]

Nothing at all. They just don't take up all my time really.

[devoutish]

Good. You need time to relax. Can't spend all day in a boat, can you.

[Or... okay, on second though, she probably can.]

[furgood]

[Bright smile] Of course I can. But I write, I read, along with everything else a little more nautical.

[devoutish]

You write?

[He says, looking up at her with interest.]

[furgood]

I write. Blame Ellis, he asked if I still did and I realized I still wanted to. I did all those gossiping articles and all.

But I've always wanted to write a novel. So I am. You don't read the bulletin board, I mentioned it there a while back. Before spring maybe?

[devoutish]

I read the bulletin board on occasion.

[Basically, he skims for important announcements and glosses over the chatty stuff. He'd rather smalltalk in person than over notes.]

What's your novel about?

[furgood]

It's a romance. Unsurprising I imagine. Two girls in Four who fall in love. Write what you know, right? I always wanted to write something set elsewhere but it's impossible to research now.

[devoutish]

Do the two girls fall in love with each other, or is it a story with two romances?

[furgood]

Oh-- each other. One girl is the daughter of a victor and was sort of expecting to have player in the games by now except trey stopped taking districters. So she sort of flounders until she tries working on one of the boats and meets the girl who does all their paperwork and things.

Kind of a finding yourself story I guess? [She's sparkling, if a little hesitant towards the end. It's a new thing, you have something to write that she really cares about ]

[devoutish]

Will you let me read it when it's done, then?

[furgood]

Yes. I mean, maybe. If I ever decide it's done.

[devoutish]

Mmm... interesting choice, though, to write about two women.

[He's careful not to sound like he has a problem with it, because he doesn't, really, but he's still very much in a "straight is the default" sort of mindset.]

[furgood]

Is more common in the Capitol, really, but the idea just came to me honestly. It'd be the same sort of plot if they were both men or a man and woman but they wouldn't be the same characters.

[devoutish]

Suppose not, no.

[He quirks a brow at her.]

But for your future writing, your future books - how on Earth is it impossible to research other places, eh? You've got people from all over in the Meadous. This is the best place for it.

[furgood]

Well--I can't just read it or go there. And it's it's so easy to get an incomplete picture of a place. I've seen London but only a little bit. Early morning, quiet, but there's plenty I don't know. What you eat, what you do for work, what you wear. What is it like during the day, at night?

[devoutish]

I'll show you more of London.

[His answer his immediate.]

I'll show you Hyde Park. You'd like Hyde Park.

[furgood]

[She bites back a laugh at how he didn't even hesitate ]

I'd love to see more, really. Whatever you'd like to show me. I don't know if I'd fit in. Clothing wise, I mean, if your idea of bathing suits is any indication.
