Meddling. [Teasing] I think half the Meadous is meddling. I'll give it a try but I'll blame you if he gets annoyed.

The man needs to be meddled with. He fucking begs for it.

[Pokes his chest ] I know, you can't help yourself. Did you do this at home? I feel like this is how you got into so much trouble.

[devoutish]

I have nearly been shot for it more than once.

[He admits, giving her a wink.]

See, I knew it. [Shakes her head ] At least John probably won't shoot you for it.

[devoutish]

Probably. He might throw a punch, though.

[furgood]

Is that why you want me to do it, because he defined won't punch me.

[devoutish]

No, of course he won't; he's a gentleman. But no, I want you to do it because he needs many people going after him.

[furgood]

[Eyeroll] I meant more because he likes me but yes. You're determined. I'll try. [Quick cheek kiss ] don't go getting punched, you'd look awful with a black eye.

[devoutish]

Not so awful; I've had them before.

[He nudges her, then sets his empty cake plate aside.]

He does like me, too. We've got a contentious sort of relationship, but we're friends.

[furgood]

Why so contentious? What happened?

[devoutish]

No one thing in particular. The first time we met in person I did hold a knife to this throat, but that was a symptom, right, not the issue itself.

[furgood]

[Shakes her head ] Guess I'm glad we meet on a beach. Most people might take offense to that you know.

[devoutish]

There were extenuating circumstances involved.

[furgood]

That's what people always say. [Teasing ]

[devoutish]

But we sorted it, as best we could. We fight sometimes and get on other times, but we're still friends.

[furgood]

[Hum] Well, good. I think your a pretty good friend. In my purrsonal opinion. You've given me pushes when I need it.

[devoutish]

[He pecks her on the lips.]

Are far less infuriating than John. Prettier, as well.

[furgood]

I hope so. Someone has to be the voice of reason in this place.
