How did she make it to London?

She knew people who'd gone - others from her village, who went before her. She decided to follow.

Did she miss it?

[devoutish]

Parts of it. Yeah. She missed the life she had.

[furgood]

I can understand. Even if things are better, there are always things to miss. People, places...food. Community.

[devoutish]

Mm. She fit well into the community in London; there were lots of Russian immigrants. My dad's family were Russian immigrants as well, generations back. But it was no substitute for what was lost.

[Nod] It's hard. But she made it. And you're here. Still making her bread

[devoutish]

[He reaches out in response to that, putting an arm around her waist and giving her a squeeze.]

[She leans against him, not heavy but enough]

[He lets her go after a moment, but is perfectly happy to have her keep leaning on him.]

I only allow myself to get truly melancholy over it during certain times of the year.

[And it's true - he seems mostly grateful now, though there is a touch of somberness to his demeanor.]

I get the feeling that your birthday isn't one of those times.

It's not. No. Good things only today, if I can possibly help it.

Mn, well. [Hums] Did I tell you I have Sherlocks cats now? I still have to name them.

[devoutish]

Fucking hell, is that man still emotionless?

[Alfie asks, disgruntled.]

He'll be wanting them back when he comes to his senses, you know.

[furgood]

I've had them since he became so. He boxed them up and shoved them outside like everything else. Like trash. [She sounds a little sharp ] If he'd wanted to keep them, he wouldn't have thrown then out.

[devoutish]

He doesn't want them now, but he will later, is what I'm telling you. When he gets his emotions back and comes sniveling to you about them, you should keep them - or make him beg.

[furgood]

He can't have them back. [Firm. Sure slips her arm around his waist and squeezes ] I won't let him throw them away and then try to get them back. I--I wanted a cat the entire time I was in the Capitol but I never wanted something to be stuck there without me if I got caught. I waited because is another living creature I'm bringing into my situation. And he just boxed them up for trash.

[devoutish]

[He puts an arm around hers in turn, swaying a little.]

He's gonna feel like a right git, yeah.

[furgood]

[Mumbles and turns her face into his shoulder ] He's awful. To them. To John.

[devoutish]

And John's never gonna get shot of him.

[Alfie says, his brow furrowing into a frown.]

He was...I don't know. Shocked. When Sherlock threw him out. He just--[Deep breath ] It makes me so angry.

[devoutish]

You're helping to take care of him, yeah?

[furgood]

I helped move him into the hotel. But you know John. He insists everything is fine.

[devoutish]

Mm, yeah; I don't let him get away with that.

[furgood]
