[Alfie settles him a little closer.]

-- Royce?

[bywolves]

Yeah? [ He settles in nicely. ]

[devoutish]

With Renart and Monty - you don't use either of our beds, do you?

[bywolves]

[ HRHRHRFFFT. ]

I -- uh. [ A long pause. ] I haven't in a while?

[devoutish]

[UGH, GROSS. Alfie cringes.]

And you won't in the future, yeah?

[bywolves]

I changed the sheets. [ He says, defensively. ] I - won't. In the future.

It was at Christmas last year. When I was drunk and angry at you.

[devoutish]

Yes, well, that would be a solid form of revenge.

[Gross, gross, gross.]

[bywolves]

[ He hasn't used the treehouse often for this and he refuses to go back to their hobbit hole. ]

[devoutish]

[Alfie kisses the back of his head.]

S'okay.

[bywolves]

[ Royce is quiet for a while more, and then he shivers and pulls the blankets closer. ]

[devoutish]

It's not winter yet, mate.

[Alfie murmurs.]

We've still got some time.

[bywolves]

I know. [ He rubs absently at his chest. ] I'm not looking forward to it, regardless.

[devoutish]

I'm looking forward to Rosh Hashanah, myself. That'll be sooner than winter.

[bywolves]

Mm. When is it, exactly? [ He sounds a bit distracted, but. ]

[devoutish]

We'll have the dinner two weeks from now.

[A beat.]

Should we still invite Renart?

[bywolves]

[ He shifts. ]

Yeah. Plan on it. I'll tell you if it ends up being different.

[devoutish]

Yeah. Okay.

[He pauses, and then shifts around a little himself, pulling Royce in and wrapping himself around him as well as he can.]

[bywolves]

[ Royce sighs out slow and curls up with Alfie, sinking into the embrace. He's fine with this. He's not quite ready to sleep fully, but he will just sort of doze, easy and relaxed, practically in Alfie's lap. ]

[devoutish]

Love you.

[Alfie murmurs against his hair.]

And what you feel matters very much to me.

[bywolves]

Love you, too. [ It comes sleepily, but he says it. A pause, and then Royce gives Alfie just a little of his contentment, his reassurance. He's okay. ]
