Mm. There's this cat. Think it might be like the one in Norfinbury, the one that was a constellation. It's not a normal cat, anyway.

It might be a person - a human - who can take the form of one.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was. It was a nice cat. [ Sniff. ] Went out and hunted down a boar for me.

Must've been a large cat.

[bywolves]

Very. It was both a small and big cat. Started off small and concerned, ended big and bringing me dinner.

[devoutish]

Sounds like you've made a friend, mate.

[bywolves]

Maybe. [ He's smiling though. ] I've always been fond of cats.

[devoutish]

Really? I didn't know.

[bywolves]

Mm. For as much as I can be fond of any animal.

[devoutish]

Have you ever thought of having one?

[bywolves]

Sometimes. I've never really been pet owner material, though. Even Bear is mostly yours.

[devoutish]

Well, you don't have to do much with a cat, do you; they just roam around and catch mice for you.

[bywolves]

True. I think that's why I like them. Low maintenance. And they're not loud. You don't get small, yapping cats.

[devoutish]

Mmmmm.

It'd be easy to have one here.

[bywolves]

It would, yes. Could let it just wander. Let it come by when it wants.

[devoutish]

You like the idea, then?

[bywolves]

It's not a terrible one. I don't think I'd go out of my way to get one.

[devoutish]

What if someone else got you one?

[bywolves]

[ He glances at Alfie, raising his eyebrow with an amused look. ]

Sure. Why not.

[Be prepared, Royce.]

[bywolves]

Ominous. [ Royce teases him. ] Very ominous.

[devoutish]

[He pushes his tea mug into Royce's hands.]

I drank yours, anyway.

[bywolves]

[ Royce takes the tea with a hum, sipping from it. ]

Thanks. [ He sprawls out - his collar slips a little, and Alfie can probably see what he was hiding. It's hickeys. Like a lot of them. Royce doesn't seem to notice or mind, now. ]

I'll have to go wish for the costumes soon.

[Oh. Alfie stifles something - a cross between a laugh (though not a cruel one) and a sound of surprise.]
