[Royce, he could kiss you. In fact--]

C'mere.

[He sets his coffee aside so that he can tug Royce to him and give him a peck on the cheek.]

[bywolves]

[ It makes him laugh, that same sort of gritty sound. ]

Careful -- [ He hums, trying not to spill his own coffee. But he takes the peck on the cheek happily enough. ] Stain didn't think it rhymed, but I sang it, so it worked.

[devoutish]

You sing it well.

[He gives Royce a squeeze, then lets him go.]

Is your throat all right?

[bywolves]

Mm, it's fine. A little sore, but I think it's because I slept with my mouth open. I usually do, after I drink.

[ He settles down next to Alfie, sitting up. ]

[devoutish]

Did you snore? I don't remember hearing you snoring.

[bywolves]

I don't know. [ Royce says, amused. ] I was sleeping.

[devoutish]

You could have woken yourself up with it. That does happen sometimes.

[Not that he's speaking from experience or anything!!!]

[bywolves]

Like when it happens to you? [ TEASE, TEASE ]

[devoutish]

Just a time or two.

[He say, delicately sipping his coffee.]

[bywolves]

[ Royce chuckles into his coffee. His connection is on again, warm and companionable. Like sitting in your pajamas on a rainy day - only it's more like pajamas before it turns into an hot day. ]

[devoutish]

[Alfie sighs contently and sinks into him, going boneless against his side.]

I like it when you leave yourself open like that.

[He murmurs, and then he does it, too. His emotions are much the same - warm, content, lazy, loving.]

[bywolves]

It's almost second nature, by now. [ Royce hums. He rests his head against Alfie's for a moment, soaking in the feeling he gets from Alfie. ] Almost feels strange not to have a second set of emotions in me, sometimes.

[ Granted, he has points where he likes to be alone in his own head, but still. ]

[devoutish]

Mmm. You are a part of me.

[That's what it feels like to him.]

And I'm a part of you.

[bywolves]

Yeah. [ Royce says softly, shifting his coffee to his other hand so that he can take Alfie's hand. ] Part of each other.

[ There's a bit of him that worries about that. He'd felt this way with Gwen, too. For as much as he knows she knows exactly what Alfie and Royce are to each other... well, he just gets anxious about it sometimes. ]

[devoutish]

[Alfie feels the worry lingering there in the background, and makes a little mm? sound before bringing Royce's hand up to kiss his knuckles.]

[bywolves]

[ He shakes his head a bit, watching Alfie kiss his knuckles with a vaguely absent look. ]

Nothing. It -- I just. [ A pause. This is nothing new. Alfie knows. ] The way I feel about you very closely mirrors the way I feel about Gwen. I worry, sometimes, about what that means.

[devoutish]

Mmm.

[It's definitely something of a surprise to hear Royce say that out loud, phrased in that way. But still, it's-- kind of reassuring? Definitely reassuring.]

I don't think she worries about it.

[bywolves]

[ It's not quite admitting the full truth - a truth he doesn't even really admit to himself. But the words feel true, and getting them out in the open feels better. ]

I don't think she does either. That's mostly why I don't worry more.

[devoutish]

I feel the same for you, you know, as I imagine you feel for Gwen. I've mentioned it in my letters.

[He hadn't for a long, long time, but eventually, he'd worked up the gumption for it.]

[bywolves]

[ Royce squeezes his hand. ]

Yeah. Not a surprise. I've felt it from you before. [ A beat. ] She wasn't surprised either, was she?

[devoutish]

She wasn't. And she wasn't bothered, either.

[bywolves]

She wasn't bothered when I told her either. She understands. I just - worry anyway, sometimes. Not much.

[devoutish]

I suppose there's not much I can do to help with that, eh?

[bywolves]

Not unless you can bring her to us right now. [ Royce says, but it's gentle. ] I don't know how it's going to work out. That doesn't mean that it won't. I just prefer to have everything planned, and this is not something I can do that with.

[devoutish]

Yeah, I know; I've seen it do your head in.

[He sets his coffee aside again so that he can wrap an arm around Royce.]

I'd help you try to come up with a plan, if you wanted.
