One of them was--someone told me it was a church at least. It has all the stained glass? It was gorgeous, the sister just was partial to colors I had a hard time finding.

Ah-- that would have been Royce's Dia, I think.

[The stained glass jogs his memory.]

Royce's Dia? I didn't know he was that fond of her. [Pause] Not that it's my business. Or that I knew him at all at that point really.

I think or only real interaction back then was him wingmanning for you.

[devoutish]

[Alfie frowns a little at the unfamiliar term, raising an eyebrow.]

"Wingmanning"?

[Oh no now she has to explain it]

I have no idea where the term came from but, you know, either talking you up to someone or getting out of your way if you have it under control.

[devoutish]

Hmmm.

[He makes a big show of considering this, rubbing thoughtfully at his chin.]

Lifting up my wings, perhaps.

[furgood]

[Meulin lets out a bright laugh] Definitely more on the money. Not that you needed it. But it was cute.

[devoutish]

Yeah, I was. I remember him telling me that he talked me up; I thanked him for it.

[furgood]

I liked the whole 'oh no I have to go hunt, let me just leave you two together'... He also said you missed me a few days ago when all the animals had conspired against him.

[devoutish]

When all the animals-- ah, you mean the wasps?

[furgood]

Nooo less literally. Did he get stung by the wasps? I was talking about how he got locked out of the house thanks to Bear.

[devoutish]

Ah, that.

[Alfie grins; he's heard the story.]

And why did he say I was missing you in particular on that day?

[furgood]

[Grins] Yes, that.

Ah, he asked how I was settling back in. And I think I said I was just glad I came back in time for you all not to move on without me. In like a year, I wouldn't expect things to be the same.

[devoutish]

Ah, you meant he said I missed you while you were gone.

[He squeezes her elbow.]

Of course I missed you. And even if you had been gone a year, none of us here would have forgotten you.

[furgood]

Of course but I wouldn't expect it to be the same. Plenty happens in a year. But a few months, that's doable.

[devoutish]

Plenty can happen at any time. Especially in a place like this.

[People come, people go. Emily had disappeared overnight. Things aren't particularly solid here, he feels.]

[furgood]

Well yeah, but it's different. I've changed a lot in a year. Or a few months. [Shrug] I'm being realistic!

[devoutish]

I get your point. I do.

[Another squeeze.]

You've known me-- what, more than two years now, hasn't it been? Do you think I've changed"

[He doesn't really think that he has at all - in the grand scheme of things, he doesn't think even Norfinbury changed him that much. But he's curious to hear her thoughts.]

[furgood]

...I don't know if you have. Not much. Still stubborn. You're doing more with your faith, that's changed.[Grin] Have I?

[devoutish]

[Alfie hmmms in agreement with the comment about his faith. He doesn't really see it as doing more with his faith, but rather interacting with it publicly in a slightly different way - but he knows that to a lot of people, that amounts to the same thing, so.]

All the changes in you that I've noticed haven't really been changes. Misconceptions I've been correct on, more like.

Mmn, true. It's an interesting way of looking at it. You've already been very honest about who you are. I guess? I held more back then.
