Mm. That's an ability I'd never want to have, myself.

No kidding. The guy almost blew up New York because he punched me in the face one too many times.

[ Does he look a little smug? He might look a little smug about that. ]

That does sound like a story. Did he learn his lesson after?

Well, then he got tricked into almost releasing a supervirus, so-

[ He shakes his head. ]

Think he was finally starting to get it around when I got pulled away.

[devoutish]

That, my friend, is the sort of man who deserves a good clobber on the head for the good of humanity.

[termineur]

Well, I was happy to provide- if shoving him out a 3rd-floor window counts, anyway.

But like I said, he was sort of getting it. Once enough people betrayed him, he started learning how to trust his mind instead of his heart. Managed to pull the trigger on his monster of a father, which is more than I'd expected out of him.

[devoutish]

That's a hard thing for any boy to do, even if the boy is all grown up. What was the problem with his dad?

[termineur]

[ Gabriel stops for a moment to just sigh, clearly trying to suss out where to even start on Arthur Petrelli. ]

He was trying to develop a drug that would give people special abilities. Like I've got, yeah? But with flying and enhanced strength instead. And then he was going to use that to make a bunch of super soldiers. Whether he was going to 'sell' them to the military or use them for himself, I have no idea.

But Arthur also tried to kill Peter a few times, left him powerless, all those things that show a son he cares. Both me and Peter were basically involved in a tug of war between his mom and his dad, and he appreciated it about as much as I did.

[devoutish]

And I'm gonna guess that the mum wasn't a decent sort, either. Am I right?

[termineur]

[ Something in his eyes sharpens, even as he smirks. ]

Oh, she was vile. At least she didn't try to kill him- but that's only as far as I know.

[devoutish]

Did she try to kill others?

[termineur]

She was more the type to tell others to do the killing.

[ Like Gabriel himself, for example. ]

No, her trade was secrets- and lies, of course. But I imagine she wasn't above some good ol' fashioned murder if someone willing wasn't on hand.

[devoutish]

[And like Alfie! Fun times.]

Not a gangster, was she?

[termineur]

[ He raises an eyebrow and looks away for a moment- it's clearly not something he's considered before. ]

If the gang can be composed of secret agents and people with super powers...yeah, that sounds about right.

[devoutish]

Sounds like all the gangs I've ever heard of.

[Alfie says - and whether he means it or not, he does sound completely serious.]

[termineur]

[ Gabriel just raises an eyebrow at that. Really? ]

[devoutish]

Sure, yeah. Many gangs make use of the police; they're the secret agents. And gangsters have got the super powers of skirting the law and evading capture.

[termineur]

[ Gabriel has a good chuckle about that, as he reaches for another slice of bread to enjoy. ]

Well, some of the gangsters do, I'm sure. Just like some of the people in my world get pretty useless abilities, I bet some people in your profession just get caught on day one.

[devoutish]

Then they're not proper gangsters, are they? It takes time to become a gangster.
