Yeah. Wasn't planning to discuss the details with her.

But speaking of the details, right, what are they?

[bywolves]

[ Good. Also, Royce hates snow. Has he mentioned how much he hates snow? Because it's awful and having to walk through it and the glare of the sun off of it makes everything hurt. ]

Pinned him to the floor with shivs. One through each palm. One in his leg, one in his shoulder. Cut out his tongue with your scalpel.

[devoutish]

[Damn, Royce.]

Do you think it was enough for him to leave you alone?

[bywolves]

Probably not. [ Royce sounds annoyed at this. A little distant, too. ] But he'll be scared of me. He was scared. Think it at least made him think.

[devoutish]

I scared him too, and he still did what he did.

[A slow smile spreads across Alfie's face.]

But I did not scare him that much.

[bywolves]

[ Royce snorts. And then winces and groans slightly. Ow. ] I told him you let me borrow the scalpel. He knows you didn't try to stop me.

Don't care what else he does. Just want to get out of here.

[devoutish]

[bywolves]

I will. [ Wryly: ] Don't die while I'm not there to protect your things.

You think that's a good idea? [ Royce doesn't sound too happy about it. ]

[devoutish]

I don't want her finding out from a list put up by the Admin.

[bywolves]

[ Long, heavy sigh. And then, quieter: ] Are you going to tell her I did it?

[devoutish]

Wasn't planning to. No. Not unless you don't mind if I share.

[bywolves]

Don't tell her. [ He doesn't want Kesara to hate him. Maybe Alfie can tell by the way Royce says it. ]

[devoutish]

Yeah.

But he might, you know. If he revives.

[Alfie thinks that House absolutely had it coming, but he also wouldn't blame the man if he wanted to warn Kesara about the guy who cut out his tongue. Alfie doesn't think Royce would hurt Kesara, but he knows House has no reason to share that faith.]

[bywolves]

I know. [ Royce rubs at his face. ] And she'll probably believe him too.

[ Royce doesn't know what to do here. He's never really been in a situation where killing someone meant people he actually gives some measure of a damn about might get angry. ]

[devoutish]

Well, he'd be telling the truth, wouldn't he.

Duster, we discussed the consequences you might face before you went off and did it. Yeah?

[bywolves]

Yeah. [ He knows. ] Just didn't want her to be afraid of me.

[ More firmly. ] Doesn't matter. He deserved it. Whether he tells her or not, it happened. I don't regret doing it.

[devoutish]

I don't regret supporting you. But you did kill her friend, and I did assist. And if there are consequences from the people involved--

[He's automatically ruling out do-gooders who have no stake in the situation outside of wanting to see a killer caught. In his mind, Kesara counts as involved, because she cares about House. Someone like Watson or Steve probably wouldn't.]

[bywolves]

Mm. Agreed. [ It's weird to have consequences at all. Royce doesn't usually have to face any. ] I'll explain if I need to. [ A pause, and then: ] Not going to let people think I did this for no reason, Solomons. If it's found out. That isn't how I work.

[devoutish]

Yeah.

You know she's more likely to be angry than afraid.

[bywolves]

I can deal with angry. [ He's dismissive about that. ] That isn't new.

[devoutish]

[Alfie is unrepentant, but his soft spot for Kesara can be seen from space. Her anger and grief wouldn't make him wish he'd done things differently, but it would make him hurt for her - and if any of it was directed at him, he won't blame her, but that would hurt too.]
