[ He sighs, the sort of sigh that usually accompanies a wince. Or a headache. ]

Right. Well- messed that up, didn't I? Guess it's inevitable, if I keep jumping topics like this.

Anyway. We're gonna come find you if you don't hear anything after a few days. Everything's awful right now, but it's even worse being alone.

[devoutish]

You don't need to find me.

[There's no fire in his voice, though.]

I'll come alone. Okay?

[ Please understand what it means for him to offer this. ]

[Alfie pauses, genuinely surprised by that offer.]

Why would you?

[termineur]

[ His response is immediate but quiet. ]

Because I know how it is to be alone in this town. I don't want you to have to deal with that.

That's surprisingly kind of you, mate.

It's not kind.

[ Just to make that clear. ]

There are a very small number of people I look out for. You just happen to be one of them.

Yeah, and you're showing me kindness.

[ He clearly doesn't believe it. Losing Royce was a huge blow- he feels desperate to keep from losing anyone else he wants around. ]

We'll see how things are in a few days, yeah?

Yeah.

Sounds like it's about time for me to get off the tablet. But you call me anytime, okay? Even if all you want is to hear someone else talk. I'm good for that, at least.

[devoutish]

[Alfie just grunts, and falls silent.]

[ ...ah. Maybe he read that wrong? ]

I can stay on? Or just leave the line open. You can hear me rooting around. You're inside too, right? We didn't travel today, I can't imagine you did.

[He's still with Royce's body, even. Very charming.]

I'm not gonna be very good company tonight.

Of course you won't. I can't imagine anyone would be, in your situation. And I'm probably not the best company there is, either, but I'll be here. 's not like I sleep, anyway.

[devoutish]

You should, mate. You need your whits about you.

Yeah, I know.

[ His voice sounds a little weary, but fond. He's heard this a few dozen times already from a suit of armor that will go unnamed. ]

Tell that to the mania, huh? I do try every night. But it doesn't always happen. So thanks, but don't worry about it.

Mm.

["Don't worry about it" does exactly nothing, but Sylar is lucky - he doesn't really have it in him to worry too much.]

Royce had that for a bit. Mania.

[ He was surprised (and pleased) that Alfie even concerned himself enough to ask about Gabriel's sleep at all. He's starting to notice when people are thoughtful about him- and it's really nice. ]

Yep. Sounds like he had it worse than I did, but- I'm seeing what he said about it not being great after awhile. I've been talking to Doctor Strange about what to do if it gets any worse. He's prescribing me some lithium and setting me on tasks to keep me occupied.

[ Gabriel won't end up climbing snow walls, that's the hope here. ]

The lithium will help. It won't make it go away, but it'll do something for it.

What sort of tasks has he given you?

[termineur]

Well, mostly just one big one. I'm going to look through all the old network posts- informational posts, all of it- and see if I can find anything that helps explain things better. Or might give us a good clue about what we're going through. We've really had way too much information thrown at us with no context, maybe if I keep notes and pay attention, I can put it into some better context.

There could be worse things for me to focus on, that's for sure.

Mm. Have you found anything?

[termineur]

Not much. I've mostly just gotten organized so far- it was difficult getting anything before Day 134. Which is right before I came here, so maybe it was just my device. I found some earlier days through Steph's info post, and managed a system where I look through there and go post by post.

But yeah, so far I'm still at the 'where the hell are we' stage of everyone showing up.

Have you talked to House and John about this? They keep records, and they've been here much longer.

[termineur]

That's true. I probably should. I know John posts his records to the network- I should be coming across those when they come up. House, I'm not sure how he does it.

[ And yet, he's certain House has records upon records. ]

But I want to make sure I've got a fresh perspective on everything, too. Which is why I'm starting from the beginning.
