Okay, we won't. [The mic on the tablet gets brushed by what sounds like clothing and becomes muffled. There seems to be a small argument between girlish voices, and a fuzzy Emily's story changes from Mister Alfie says to Mister Alfie would probably want.

Then she hangs up quickly. After a few moments, she calls Alfie back, whispering.] We're still looking.

[devoutish]

Emily, stay on the line. Don't hang up again.

What's Kesara saying?

[empireofrats]

Sorry. [She's still whispering.] I don't think she wants anyone to know we're lost, so I can't talk very long.

[devoutish]

Hand the tablet to her a moment.

[empireofrats]

She might get mad again...

[devoutish]

Emily, I need to talk to her.

[empireofrats]

Okay... [The tablet gets muffled a bit again as she holds it to herself while she calls Kesara to come talk to Alfie. Kesara, LISTEN.]

[heavensreader]

[Kesara no, Kesara yes...]

We're all right, Mr. Solomons. It's a very small place to get lost in! [A little impatient. She has totally got this, Alfie. Don't nobody fuss.]

[devoutish]

How far off are you from shelter?

[heavensreader]

I don't know, but we were never more than a few hours out before. They're tunnels. This isn't the desert where you can wander forever with no landmarks at all.

[devoutish]

Kesara, do me a favor and go inside, all right?

[heavensreader]

As soon as we'll find someplace to go into! We'll go in and stay in and not go out again until this all blows over and Duster - oah, I need to tell Duster not to stay out looking for us! He'll only get lost too and that'll make things even worse!

[devoutish]

Yeah, he will; he's fucking stubborn. If he makes noises about staying out, we'll both have to yell and threaten until he listens.

[heavensreader]

Zach is going to kill hi- [She stops dead in the middle of the exaggeration. This is no joking matter where either Royce or Zach are concerned.]

It's not his fault. And it isn't mine! And anyone who gets scared at us right now is only going to make things harder. But no one will listen if I say so.

[devoutish]

I'm not gonna panic at you, Kesara. Yeah?

[He is worried, but he feels level-headed - and he agrees that panic would make things harder, for all of them.]

[heavensreader]

It's not you I'm worried about, Mr. Solomons! It's Duster and Tifa and - and - Zach.

[devoutish]

Does Zach know?

[heavensreader]

No. So you mustn't tell him. No one must tell him and it mustn't get back to him until we're safe and I can tell him myself. So don't you dare, Emily!

[devoutish]

Yeah, listen to her, Emily; it's all right.

Now, are either of you seeing things?

[empireofrats]

[The frown is in her voice. It's a bit more worried in reality with Kesara, but whatever.] I'm not going to tell! [Gosh... She only told Alfie because she thinks he knows what to do!

At the mention of seeing things she exchanges a look with Kesara without answering. Do we?]

[heavensreader]

Good. [The implication behind Kesara's sullen mumble may just be or I'll eat you alive.

She hesitates for a moment, and then responds to Emily's look with a tiny nod. There's no point lying about obvious things to Mr. Solomons.] We know they aren't real. It's still hard to ignore them, though.

[devoutish]

Yeah, they're crafty things; they turned us around a bit when we tried to walk.

[empireofrats]

[Mumbled:] That's probably how we got lost...

[heavensreader]

Anyone would've gotten lost. It wasn't m- our fault. [Blaming Emily would be an injustice even Kesara can't quite swallow.]

And that's why Duster and Tifa need to stay in.

[devoutish]

I'm not concerned about faults.

But you are right about Duster and Tifa. Yeah. They can guide you from indoors, if you need it.
