It's going to hurt her. And it's going to upset Quark, especially when she refuses to tell him why. He already has enough to deal with here.

She should tell him why. Let him be aware of what he's dealing with.

She won't tell him. I've already tried convincing her she needs to and she all but broke down.

No. I think I've done enough damage to her and everyone else lately. I'm not going to go against her wishes again, even if I think it would be better to.

And what about him and his wishes?

He hasn't expressed any to me apart from wanting to see her again, which I've been trying to get her to agree to. He hasn't asked me about why she might not want to.

[devoutish]

Watson, don't be thick. He hasn't expressed anything different because he thinks he has no reason to. You know that he might. Yeah?

Solomons, don't be thick. I know that full well and I don't plan on asking him directly. I'll either have to lie to him and upset him, tell him I can tell him and upset him, or tell him the truth and upset her. There's not a way to win that.

I'll cross that bridge when I come to it, unless you've got some words of wisdom.

I think you care about her very much, right, and it's affecting your judgement. I asked if you had thought about telling the boy he's traveling with someone who helped do awful things to him, and then lied about it - and your concern was for not wanting to hurt her. Yeah? Not wanting to go against her wishes.

What? That's not what we're talking about, Alfie. We're talking about me telling Quark that Luna's a robot.

She's a robot who was involved in this game. It's all related.

It's her being a robot that she doesn't want me talking about, not the Nonary Game. Quark already knows what happened with that. [How could he not when the information is up there in black and white?] I've already told Luna he probably knows what she is, as well, but she's adamant. And even knowing what he knows about her, he trusts her enough to want to be with her. Which is why I've been telling you there's got to be more to the story than that.

He does know she was involved with the game? Mm.

If she doesn't want you to know the rest of the story, leave it alone. Especially if you do consider her a friend.

As far a I know. I don't know how he couldn't be. He reads the network like everyone else.

[But Alfie telling him to leave it alone makes John frown.]

If he asks for help, you mean, yeah?

Have I ever once told you to stay out of it if your help is asked for?

When your help is asked for, it is not the same fucking thing as being told to stay out of it and shoving your way in anyway. You do see the difference there, yeah? You do?

[But he's quick to add:]

Sometimes people don't know how to ask for help or they're afraid or they don't realize they need it. What would you do if you saw someone who didn't deserve it being abused by another person? Just keep walking if that person being abused doesn't ask you for help?
