I told you exactly why you and all the others are irritating me, when we spoke before, and I'm not in the mood to walk you through it again. It's still there, innit? You can go and listen again.

[He sighs once more. He really doesn't get what he's doing wrong again. He should have known it'd be useless- he's never good enough for Alfie and his friends, and he's starting to get that.

Still, he goes back to read their conversation, and he's not really enlightened.]

You were pissed that I was assuming things, and I've just apologized for that. So...

[Throwing his free hand in the hair, Zach shakes his head. He's not getting upset over this again.]

Fine, whatever. You don't care, I get it. I'm irritating, I get it. Sorry about that, too.

[That gives Zach pause. He kinda thought that was the same thing.

But then, he's the guy that spells laser with a Z. Vocabulary is not really his strong suit.]

[Even though he didn't mean it. Even though he said he didn't mean it. He's apologizing for assuming, but Alfie's never going to give him the same courtesy. It's just easier this way.

Zach is starting to regret thinking he had to do this.]

[Alfie is, unfortunately, pretty sure that this is Zach going through the motions of apologizing for something he doesn't fully understand, simply because he wants to be liked and forgiven. It annoys him less from Zach than it would from someone older, or someone like Charles or Natasha. But it still annoys him.]

[Zach resists the urge to roll his eyes. He's not completely inept or unable to understand.]

I just hope whatever you want from this, you get, without getting hurt. [Or Al. The other two, he cares much less for. But he cares for Al, and Steph definitely cares for Al, and Kesara cares for Alfie, and all of this is way too close for comfort.]
