Sir, I have encountered a problem in which I was hoping for some advice. Most specifically, you having been here longer than I have, advice to keep the peace.

[Alfie isn't actually surprised to get this question. Sure, he's an unapologetic gang leader who regularly fucks people up, but he's also done his fair share of peacemaking. Gang-related peacemaking, but still.]

Can you come on audio, mate?

[He doesn't put up much of a fuss about the request. He keeps his voice low though and there is a tone as if he's uncomfortable.]

Yeah, that won't be a problem. What's the matter?

[He sighs heavily from his nose. Like this is very difficult for him to ask.]

I have earned the ire of another person living here. This person is... persistent in making it clear they are going to hunt me down. I should like to find common ground and avoid this potential conflict.

Who is it?

[He goes quiet as if weighing the risks.]

I don't feel comfortable naming this person in case it inspires further threats against me. I'm sure you understand.

A bone to pick it seems. This person has texted me on two occasions now demanding my location with more than little ominous threats.

[He sighs again, a small frustrated sound.]

He's not... well. That much is clear to me. However, outside of avoiding this person, I would more like to solve his grievances without bodily harm. I actually fear that might come to pass should we meet.

Goodness. They do sound unstable.

[Or more likely, it's a personal issue of some kind.]

How many times had you spoken, before all this started?

This person is from my world, actually. We used to work together, but they have always been... [How to phrase it politely? He pauses to find the correct word.] ...difficult. I fear the circumstances of their being here has quite unhinged them.

[He goes quiet for a moment.] This person has a history of violence in my world. Manageable violence when given a task to occupy them. It doesn't seem to be plausible here.

[Immediately, he starts to run through the possibilities. Stein? Beckett? Bucky? Sylar? Stein seems like the most likely, given what Alfie knows about him, but he'd believe any of them.]

They've been here for a long time, then?

[He can be heard rummaging around, though clearly not taking his time to answer.]

I admit that I don't know how long they've been here. So far our conversations have mostly involved "tell me where you are" and "i'm going to find you no matter where you run". Beyond that, very little information sharing has occurred.

Yeah. What caused your difficulties at home?

I had no difficulties with this person back on our world. I was one of the few that could talk this person down from a confused paranoid rage, but my attempts here have been thwarted.

[That seems like enough information sharing for the time being. He changes tracks.]

I don't want this person to hurt me, but more, I don't want them to hurt anyone else. Do you have any advice on defusing such a situation? Could it be MN poisoning?

It could be. Yeah. Paranoia is a symptom. Could be heightened by a paranoia that already exists.

Of course, knowing more details can only help. They don't cause difficulties to you, but you did say they were difficult. Difficult with who? Who do they lash out at, normally?

I haven't the resources that I had back on my world. Perhaps a face-to-face meeting may be the only way to know for certain how deeply into this angry psychosis this person as fallen.

[Well, usually there was no difficulty. Medication and electricity took care of that, but certain... malfunctions required a steady hand.]

Sometimes they did not appreciate the medical intervention.

What sort of medical intervention?

[He's back to rustling around.]

IV fluids, anti-anxiety medications when and where necessary, physical check-ups, psychological exams. As I said, when this person had a task to direct and focus them, they were such a good team player. Now I can't tell what team this one is playing for.

Are you all right there, mate? You seem a bit distracted yourself.

[The rustling pauses. He sounds uncomfortable, as if caught in the act.]

Yes... I just want to be prepared to head into the cold if I suspect this person is getting close. I'm not a young man anymore, so a head start is what I will need.

[This has to be Bucky or Stein. The violent impulses, the history with medical intervention... it all fits.]

Are you planning to meet face to face, eventually?

It seems like I have little choice in the matter. Unless you have another suggestion? You know more about MN poisoning and whatever other afflictions occur here better than I do.

Take someone along with you. Do you trust anyone here?

No, I haven't met anyone face-to-face at all yet.

[And let's be honest, he's at a physical disadvantage in most cases.]

It seems most people are in the North as well. Either way, I have been asked to look into a building for signs of a struggle by one of the other people here. I plan on doing that before trying any long journeying North myself.
