I'll wish for it to go back to normal. [ He doubts Watson will be able to help. Especially regarding elf things - he knows Watson knows he's a half-elf but he's still fidgety about it. ]

[devoutish]

Mm.

[God, he hopes it doesn't come to that.]

[bywolves]

It's fine, Solomons. [ Royce nudges him a little. ]

[devoutish]

Well, I'm gonna worry.

[bywolves]

Worry when it's been longer. [ Royce says, shaking his head a bit. And then, he points - or tries to, with his coffee hand. ]

Do those look like stairs to you?

[devoutish]

-- Could be. Yeah.

[It's hard to see through the leaves and tree trunks, but there's definitely something winding up a tree in the direction that Royce is gesturing in.

When they're a little closer, it becomes clear that yes, that sure is a staircase. The bottom of the treehouse itself is just barely visible through the leaves.]

[bywolves]

[ And Royce grins, widely. ]

That's it. Come on. [ He practically drags Alfie to the stairs, letting go of him to climb up into it. ]

[devoutish]

You're gonna reach the top long before I do--

[Not only because he's going up the stairs first, but because he's probably taking them a lot faster.]

Shout down to me about how it is.

[bywolves]

[ He makes his way up into the house, running his hand along the wood. He tries to do it before Alfie sees him, but either way, Royce moves right up to the middle of the house, where the wood of the tree supporting the house up is still standing. He rests his forehead against the tree, hands on either side of the trunk, and murmurs a thank you.

And then he takes his time looking around. ]

Just big enough. [ Royce calls to Alfie, wherever he is. ] Has all the things I asked for.

[devoutish]

Can you hear the sea?

[bywolves]

[ He's quiet for a moment, closing his eyes, hand resting on the bark. ]

I can hear the sea. [ He confirms, smiling. ]

[devoutish]

[Alfie appears at that moment, Royce's smile making him smile himself.]

Ah, look at this. You might not want to leave, eh?

[bywolves]

Mm. I can divide it half and half. [ Sniff. ] It'll probably be cold if snow ever comes.

[devoutish]

[Ugh, gross.]

This could be a summer cottage, then. Or we'll wish up extra blankets.

[bywolves]

Mm. Summer cottage could be good. [ He settles down on the bed with a bit of a smile. ] Better to listen to the waves during then, anyway.

[devoutish]

[Alfie flops next to him with a sigh, closing his eyes.

Royce is right. It's a very comfortable bed.]

[bywolves]

[ Royce has caffeine in his system, but he's relaxed enough right now to just lay out flat. He leaves his coffee on the floor and closes his eyes, listening to the sounds around them. His hearing is settling down. ]

I'm glad for this.

[devoutish]

Mm. I may never move again.

[bywolves]

I'm okay with that. [ Royce murmurs. ] Let's live here for a while.

[ There's something about the small space that makes him comfortable. ]

[devoutish]

Mm. We'll have to go back down to cook, but--

[That's doable. He sags into Royce's shoulder.]

Is there a tub to soak in?

[bywolves]

Combined bath and shower. It's a little cramped, but it's there. [ He's actually sprawled out, so when Alfie sinks up against him, Royce turns to curl into his side. ]

[devoutish]

[He really likes having Royce curled against him, honestly. He drops an arm around his shoulders.]

Good enough. We've got the big one back at the other place for those three-hour baths.

[You know, the ones Alfie has been enjoying pretty much every other day. He's in an permanent state of water-logged wrinkled fingers.]

[bywolves]

[ Royce has gotten so used to it that it's weird when he doesn't feel the need to be in Alfie's space. The casual touches and leans are second-nature, but he still has to make himself not think so hard about it. When he overthinks, he ends up at the opposite side of the house.

He closes his eyes again. ]

At least I'll have a place to shower while you're in there for those three hours.

[devoutish]

You've got a place at the house, too. Shower's separate.

[ And Alfie thinks nothing of casual nudity among men. ]
