[Her smile softens a little ] And how do you take yours? Little bit of sugar?

[devoutish]

Only a little. Just a pinch.

[furgood]

Tks. How purrdictable. [Her eyes are sparkling with amusement ] Between us we make one normal cup of tea.

[devoutish]

How much sugar is in a normal cup, then?

[furgood]

...I don't know. But if I have an unreasonably large amount of sugar and you have barely any... [She holds up her hands in a weighing motion, as if balancing scales ] Somewhere in the middle lies a slight more reasonable amount. The normal amount.

[devoutish]

More towards this than that, I think.

[He lightly presses up on the hand representing the smaller amount.]

Says you! I think you're a little biased.

[devoutish]

Well, you'll have to tell me what you think of the sugar in this.

[Deciding that the rugelach is warm enough, he lifts the serving platter off the top of the oven and slides her portion onto a plate.]

[She lights up and pulls off a much larger piece this time. A quick nibble leaves her closing her eyes for a moment in delight ]

It's lovely. The chocolate works so well with it. You should make a dozen more. Just saying.

[devoutish]

I make them often enough. They're traditional.

[furgood]

For a holiday in particular or just in general?

[devoutish]

Oh, we eat 'em all the time, yeah. With all sorts of things inside. I can make 'em with fruit jams, as well.

[furgood]

I request more chocolate. Though I wouldn't say no to one with fruit in it. This lends itself to sweeter things.

[devoutish]

What about raisins? Nuts?

[furgood]

Maaaaybe. I'd have to try it. I mean, raisins yes, but nuts would be a very different bread.

[devoutish]

We put nuts and nut paste inside of this. It's very good. I've give you a taste, someday.

[furgood]

I shall endeavor to remain open minded. [She snags another bite of warm bread and hums ] How many more things can you bake that you're hiding up your sleeves? I'm beginning to think anything I give you will be met with a new sort of bread or treat.

[devoutish]

Would that be so awful?

[furgood]

Hardly. Gives me more incentive to find new things to give you.

[devoutish]

Ah, no wonder you take your sugar so sweet.

[furgood]

Hmnn? [She tilts her head in a little confusion ]

[devoutish]

[He just smiles, and doesn't explain the flirting. Just then, the kettle starts to whistle.]

Tea's on.

[furgood]

[ She gives a little huff and glances at the tea kettle and tucks a lock of hair behind her ear]

If you're saying I'm sweet, you're the one who's been making me a new bread every time. So there.

[devoutish]

And does that preclude you from being sweet?
