[He says it lightly, but.]

What sort of things? [ A beat. ] You know you'd likely face the same issue with me, if you were to be in my head.

I can't think of anything I wouldn't want to see in yours.

[He quirks a brow.]

But I suppose you'd say the same about mine.

[bywolves]

[ He watches Alfie with a softer sort of look. ]

[devoutish]

[He hesitates for a moment.]

I don't want you seeing the bad bits and pitying me for them.

[bywolves]

It'd be that way for both of us.

I don't want you to remember Manzant the way I do, but I would let you.

[devoutish]

[Alfie would squeeze his hand right now, but he's afraid that the emotion welling up in him would make him squeeze it too hard by accident.]

I want to remember it the way you do. I've seen it, but that's different. I want to fully understand.

[ He noses at Alfie's cheek. ]

[ He thinks about it. ]

I - I'd ask you to avoid the more private moments with Gwen. But I doubt you'd look at those, anyway.

[devoutish]

No, no, of course I wouldn't look at those. I assume you'd avoid similar things in my own head.

[bywolves]

Mm. [ A sniff. ] I wonder if Zephyr can actually do that.

With everything else he can do, I don't see why not.

[bywolves]

[ Royce nods. ]

When would you want to?

[devoutish]

I don't know.

[There's still a root of anxiety in his chest at the idea, and it shows in the way his muscles tighten, just a little.]

[bywolves]

I wouldn't ask you to do it if you didn't absolutely want to.

[ He sounds a bit worried, hand coming down to hold onto Alfie's. ]

I want to. I honestly want to. But it still makes me a bit nervous.

[bywolves]

Does it make you feel better to know I'm also nervous?

[devoutish]

It does. And I'm honored that you'd do it regardless.

[Pause.]

There's no one else in all the world that I'd agree to this with, other than you.

[bywolves]

[ Solemnly: ] You know that it is the same for me. I trust you implicitly.

[ Maybe Gwen too, that he'd do this with, but - that says something in and of itself. ]

[devoutish]

Mm, yeah. I trust you, and-- I trust that anything that you see in my head, we will work through without pulling away from each other.

[bywolves]

[ Royce breathes out a slow sigh of a noise. ]

Yeah. We've made it this far. We'll make it even further.
