[ She takes his hand again, holding it tightly, but doesn't say anything. She knows he has to be pained, thinking of them. Like she is, when she thinks of Royce, of Mercy. ]

[Alfie gives her hand a squeeze, sighing.]

Doing the holidays only helps so much.

Royce told me about Rosh Hashanah. [ She has a little difficulty pronouncing it, but. ] I understand, though. It is difficult, to feel alone. Separated from your people.

[devoutish]

[He models for her, smiling a little.]

Sorry. [ She says, smiling apologetically. ] You know, we're alike in that way, a little.

In what way is that?

Being separated from our people. The place I'm from... it was a small, tight-knit society. We all knew each other, in Calis. My mother and I left when I was young, but I will never forget the sense of belonging I felt when I was among them.

Would you bring them here, if you could, or would you move on?

I've had a long time to move on from the life I had in Calis. [ She rests her chin in her palm. ] I'm not saying that you need to. Your family is precious and you should hold onto them for as long as you can.

Are you treated that way where you are now?

Not in Aria. I'm actually one of the least interesting people there.

[ Another laugh, and she nudges Alfie, playfully. ]

[He leans in and gives her a peck on the cheek.]

[ Aw, Alfie. She brings a hand up to her cheek, fingers brushing the spot he kissed. She's practically glowing with how happy she looks. ]

We still haven't seen Royce. Maybe we really should go looking for him.

[devoutish]

I worry we'd wander right past each other. I think you had the right idea. Best to stay put.

[avere]

Mm. [ She settles against his side, then. She can't exactly feel it, so much, considering they're in VR, but. ]

Well, all right, then. Yeah. [ She says, in the worst possible approximation of his accent. She's not good at this like Royce is. ]

[devoutish]

[That's a little surprising, but he lets her, carefully resting a hand on her arm.]

That was an embarrassing effort.

[Which he, of course, says in her accent - not that he's any better at hers than she is at his.]

[ That has her giggling, which is very undignified. She covers her mouth to stifle them. ]

Alfie - you have no room to talk!

[devoutish]

I can do Royce's better.

[Somewhat better. Still not nearly as well as Royce does his.]
