He sets the cup that belongs to Alfie on the endtable, shooing Lady away from it. She mrrowls in annoyance - look, she was just curious! - and hops over to stand on Alfie's back, kneading at him. ]

[It doesn't actually hurt, he's just being dramatic. The smell of the coffee rouses him, though, and he unearths himself, bleary-eyed and hair sticking up in every direction.]
What did you sing to get this?
no subject
As he's sitting down and passing over the coffee, he hums in a sing-songy tone, low and slightly gritty from the hangover: ]
Ashira l'adonai, ki gaoj ga-ah, mi chamocha baelim adonai.
[ He has the songs from Prince of Egypt stuck in his head a lot. ]

C'mere.
[He sets his coffee aside so that he can tug Royce to him and give him a peck on the cheek.]
no subject
Careful -- [ He hums, trying not to spill his own coffee. But he takes the peck on the cheek happily enough. ] Stain didn't think it rhymed, but I sang it, so it worked.

[He gives Royce a squeeze, then lets him go.]
Is your throat all right?
no subject
[ He settles down next to Alfie, sitting up. ]

[He say, delicately sipping his coffee.]

I like it when you leave yourself open like that.
[He murmurs, and then he does it, too. His emotions are much the same - warm, content, lazy, loving.]

[ Granted, he has points where he likes to be alone in his own head, but still. ]
no subject
[That's what it feels like to him.]
And I'm a part of you.

[ There's a bit of him that worries about that. He'd felt this way with Gwen, too. For as much as he knows she knows exactly what Alfie and Royce are to each other... well, he just gets anxious about it sometimes. ]

Nothing. It -- I just. [ A pause. This is nothing new. Alfie knows. ] The way I feel about you very closely mirrors the way I feel about Gwen. I worry, sometimes, about what that means.

[It's definitely something of a surprise to hear Royce say that out loud, phrased in that way. But still, it's-- kind of reassuring? Definitely reassuring.]
I don't think she worries about it.
no subject
I don't think she does either. That's mostly why I don't worry more.
no subject
[He hadn't for a long, long time, but eventually, he'd worked up the gumption for it.]
no subject
Yeah. Not a surprise. I've felt it from you before. [ A beat. ] She wasn't surprised either, was she?
