Thought nobody would bother me down there. Obviously I was wrong. [ He'll help Alfie up the stairs if Alfie will let him. ]

[devoutish]

Impossible to avoid, that's me.

[Alfie lets him, especially on the second staircase. And once they're at the top, he breathes a sight of relief, sagging against Royce for a moment.]

[bywolves]

[ Royce gets an arm around Alfie's waist. He lets Alfie lean, helping him along after giving him a moment to rest. He doesn't seem to mind. ]

[He's grateful for it, and when he starts walking again, he doesn't step away from Royce.]

The pain's getting worse.

[And it's worrying as fuck. How bad is it going to get?]

[bywolves]

[ Yeah. Royce has seen it. It's hard not to notice when you spend most of your waking hours with the same person. ]

I know. We've got pain pills. [ Royce reminds him quietly. He helps Alfie to the bedroom. ] We'll take rest days when we need to.

[devoutish]

We'll do what needs to be done.

[He sinks down onto the edge of the bed, which - true to his word - is already made up.]

Come on. Trying to get you into bed with me, aren't I.

[bywolves]

[ Royce doesn't bother arguing. He hangs up his cloak and changes into the robe he'd found a few days ago, and then climbs into the bed. Distantly, he thinks about the fact that Davesprite would probably call this super gay. Not that he cares, he just thinks about it. ]

Don't drool on me. [ Royce mutters, burrowing under the blankets. ]

[devoutish]

[Alfie flicks him on the shoulder and starts to arrange the blankets over both of them.]

Don't know why I put up with you.

[It's said in the most loving way possible.]

[bywolves]

[ Royce grouches something that sounds like exactly what Alfie just said, curling up with his pillow. He's hit by a wave of exhaustion, and while there's something in his head that makes it difficult to sleep with strangers in the house, he can't fight sleep forever.

He's quiet, though he'll be awake for a while longer, finally warm and basking in it. ]

[devoutish]

[Alfie rests against him - not enough to be a full lean, but his arm sits against Royce's and his cheek brushes the top of his head. He wonders if he should take some pain pills, but... no. He'll wait. He'll save them, just in case it's even worse tomorrow.]

Sleep well, Royce.

[bywolves]

[ Royce doesn't protest. He doesn't move away, and just - floats, warm enough to not worry. Relaxing is easier than he thought it'd be. He'll fall asleep soon enough, after murmuring a good night in return.

During the night, he doesn't cuddle, but he does curl up, knees mostly to his chest, hand extended to hold onto Alfie's sleeve somehow. It makes him sleep better, even if the move is entirely a subconscious thing. ]

[Alfie does cuddle a little bit, once he's asleep. He shifts closer by degrees, always unconsciously, to seek out warmth. By morning, one arm will be loosely thrown across Royce's shoulders.]
