[ His next reply, around ten minutes later, finally comes through audio. He sounds wrecked, but he's calmer, at least. ]

Is she okay?

[devoutish]

Better, now that she knows you are.

[bywolves]

[ Good. Silence, then: ] When you came back. You couldn't speak, but could you breathe? Draw in deep breaths.

[devoutish]

Yeah. You can't?

[bywolves]

Couldn't. At first. I pulled myself out of a bag and couldn't think straight. Couldn't breathe. Felt like I was going to die all over again.

[ There's a pause. ] It's gone. That sensation. I'm just tired, now. Was that what coming back feels like?

[devoutish]

It sounds like panic. Terror.

[bywolves]

I don't do that. [ Panic, he means. He swallows hard around the rise of - not panic in his chest and keeps steady. ] Did you feel that when you came back? I wanted to know if it was part of the revival process.

[devoutish]

No. I didn't.

[You had a panic attack, bro. Own it.]

Great. Came back broken. [ Sigh of IRRITATION. ] No headache, at least. Did you hear what happened, or did Watson lie to you?

[Which is the important part, as far as Alfie is concerned.

He gave me the shorter version over the tablet, right, and the longer version when he stopped by. He tied you up?

[bywolves]

[ Guess who is going to ignore all that Emotion about dying and coming back? This guuuuuuy. ]

He tied me up. After I told him I wasn't planning on doing anything else. Told him he could lock me in the room on my own and that I wouldn't resist.

Wasn't going to let him tie me up. Not with Ecks there. And look what happened when he did. I was right.

[devoutish]

[Alfie's voice gets even tighter - quietly furious. The addition of Royce actually trying to work with Watson, and that still happening... it makes things even worse.]

He's coming down to the tunnels, to look for Peggy Carter.

[bywolves]

I want nothing to do with him. [ Royce is sharp about this too. ] I want nothing to do with him or the patchwork doll or House. I'm done.

I was at the damn tunnel. And now I'm here.

[devoutish]

Yeah, right, exactly. Why do you think I'm warning you?

[bywolves]

You are going to be the only one who doesn't think I want revenge.

[devoutish]

I believe you, mate. Tifa will, as well. Yeah.

When I saw him, he was feeling very, very guilty. I like the idea of him punishing himself forevermore, instead of being punished by us.

[bywolves]

I do as well. He should feel guilty, the stupid, moronic brideeth.

[devoutish]

Which is why I'm not gonna do anything to him. No yelling, no lectures.

[No anything worse.]

I will not fucking give him anything that looks like punishment or retribution, even though he deserves it. He knows he deserves it, and he will feel even more guilty about not getting what he deserves.

[bywolves]

[ Aw, Alfie. This makes Royce feel better. ] I don't have any intentions of speaking to him, either. He can rot.

He was going to tell the Admin I killed House. I don't know if he did or not.

[devoutish]

I'll ask him. We should know.

[bywolves]

You need to hear my version of what happened. To know if he left anything else out. I want to know.

I was trying to sleep. Ecks caught me unaware. Held scissors to my throat, stepped on my broken finger, and told me she knew I killed House. I told her why I did it. Because he broke a rule. [ This seems to be helping. He sounds like he's calming down further as he runs through it. ]

Watson came in. Called her to his side. She did. He asked what was going on, I told him. I told him so he'd know I wasn't provoking her, that she did it on her own. He jumped to deciding I needed to be tied up and kept away from everybody. He also said he'd tell the Admin.

I told him I refused to be tied up. That he could lock me in the room. That I didn't plan on killing either of them. Didn't want to. Watson insisted on tying me up. I warned him three times not to touch me. He said he didn't trust me. I said he could call Tifa to ask her for the truth. He said he'd do it after he tied me up.

He jumped me. Twisted my wrist. I tried to get free. Ecks sst -- [ Pause. Breath. ] Ecks stabbed me in the throat. Without warning. I had no time to react.

[devoutish]

He didn't tell me he'd tell the Admin, and he didn't tell me you'd offered to cooperate. He did tell me you'd said you wouldn't do it again. Let out the part about allowing yourself to be locked up.

[bywolves]

Of course. [ He thinks he'll be more angry later. For now, he's just tired. ] Makes him look better.

Wasn't going to let them drag me around as a prisoner. But that night I wasn't going to fight them.
