I don't think Duster is feeling well.

Um. [After a moment or two, softly:] He says there's eyes.

[devoutish]

Yeah.

I'm seeing them, too.

I don't see any eyes. [Not yet.] He asked me if I did. Now he seems especially grumpy. And he keeps saying not to touch him, but we're not.

--Oh, I have to go. I will call you right back, okay?

[devoutish]

[Well, that doesn't sound good.]

What's wrong? Tell me quickly before you go, yeah?

It's okay, Mister Alfie. [But then she just (rudely) hangs up.

She doesn't pick up for any return calls (rude and worrying), and it's at least half an hour or so before she calls back as promised. Her voice sounds as sheepish as ever.] I think we're lost, Mister Alfie.

[devoutish]

Go into the nearest building, all of you.

I don't-- [There's a pause. In the background is another small, high voice, words unintelligible.] Um. It's just me--

--me and Kesara. We were walking, and... Just a little ways. Now Duster and Miss Tifa are gone. And there's--like the eyes, but not eyes. Strange things, like when I saw the whale. [Oh right. Inside.] We're looking for a house.

[He talks with Kesara a lot; he knows it's dark down there.]

I don't... Kesara might. I can use the notebook--tablet. A little.

[devoutish]

Keep going. The houses sound like they're close together in there; you'll find something soon.

[He's worried, but is doing a good job of not showing it.]

[Which is great since Alfie's non-worried approach makes Emily feels a bit better. Alfie sounds confident, so Emily feels confident.] Mister Alfie says to keep going.

Okay. We're going to keep looking for a house. I tried to call Duster, but he didn't pick up. I think he was upset. About the eyes. I haven't tried Miss Tifa yet.

Maybe they went by already... There's footprints sometimes, but they are too big to be ours. But--there's just one pair.

[devoutish]

I'm gonna call them. Don't follow the footsteps, yeah? Look for buildings.

Okay, we won't. [The mic on the tablet gets brushed by what sounds like clothing and becomes muffled. There seems to be a small argument between girlish voices, and a fuzzy Emily's story changes from Mister Alfie says to Mister Alfie would probably want.

Then she hangs up quickly. After a few moments, she calls Alfie back, whispering.] We're still looking.

[devoutish]

Emily, stay on the line. Don't hang up again.

What's Kesara saying?

Sorry. [She's still whispering.] I don't think she wants anyone to know we're lost, so I can't talk very long.

[devoutish]

Hand the tablet to her a moment.

[empireofrats]

She might get mad again...

Emily, I need to talk to her.

[empireofrats]

Okay... [The tablet gets muffled a bit again as she holds it to herself while she calls Kesara to come talk to Alfie. Kesara, LISTEN.]
