[He drapes the towel over his shoulders and wades out the rest of the way, going to stand by his discarded clothes.]

Really? How short?

[bywolves]

I don't know. [ Royce makes a vague attempt to dry his pants off, but they're sopping wet, so. It's a poor attempt. ] Maybe as short as yours.

[devoutish]

Gonna grow a big beard, too?

[bywolves]

No, you've got more than enough for the both of us.

[devoutish]

And you've got more than enough hair. That's a delicate balance you're talking about upsetting, Royce.

[bywolves]

[ He laughs a bit. ]

Do you have an objection to me cutting my hair? [ He's teasing. ]

[devoutish]

I don't know, mate; I can't picture it. Seeing your ears regularly would be a very strange thing.

[bywolves]

[ Pfft. Royce brings his hand up to run his fingers over his ear almost self-consciously, just - briefly. It's an idle motion. Maybe like he's reminding himself they're not pointy. ]

Scandalous. What would the neighbors say if I just let my ears show. [ Royce says dryly. ]

[devoutish]

Better than your ankles. Imagine the shame.

[Says the guy who's standing there stark naked as he dries his legs off, but listen.]

[bywolves]

[ Yeah, no, Royce is going to point that out. ]

Says the man standing out in nature with no pants on.

[devoutish]

Of course I've got no pants on. You and your sopping wet pants are my cautionary tale.

[bywolves]

[ Yeah, but at least he's not naked!!! ]

At least my ankles aren't on display.

[devoutish]

[He lifts a foot and waves his ankle at Royce.]

[bywolves]

[ Royce pretends to gasp in shock and covers his eyes, hamming it up. ]

[devoutish]

[It gets a chuckle out of Alfie as he pulls on his underwear and pants, leaving his shirt slung over his arm.]

To the-- what do they call it, the rec center?

[bywolves]

Mm, that's what they call it. [ He pulls on his shirt, and cloak, as usual. Wet pants are uncomfortable, but whatever. He'll deal. And he'll lead Alfie off. ]

[devoutish]

We could go get you a change of clothes first, if you like.

[bywolves]

Yeah. Think that might be nice. It'll only take a minute.

[devoutish]

[And while they're there, Alfie takes the opportunity to grab them a second bottle of wine.

Over at the rec center, he flops down on the couch, looking expectantly at Royce.]

Now, about this DVD player.

[You're not really going to make him do it, are you, bro?]

[bywolves]

What about it? [ Royce hums, pushing his damp hair back out of his face as he sits down in front of the player. ]

[devoutish]

How do you start it up? I don't see a crank.

[bywolves]

There's buttons. [ He shifts out of the way to gesture at the power button, so Alfie can see it. ] You press a button to turn it on, and then another to get it to play.

[devoutish]

Ah--

[He presses the power button, and the machine whirs to life.]

There we go, look at that.

[There's a disc already in, apparently, because the menu for The Fellowship of the Ring pops up. Afie, not looking up at the screen, doesn't notice yet.]

We've got to decide what to play, first.

[bywolves]

[ Looks like nobody has touched it since the last time Royce was here, because that's the movie that Monty put in, as well. Royce snorts a little when it comes up on screen. ]

I watched about fifteen minutes of this one. [ He says, quieter. ]

[devoutish]

[Alfie lifts his head, squinting at it. He's less surprised by the color and excellent picture quality than he would have been coming straight from home - the tablets had helped acclimate him to that.]
