She's in Panem... If Zephyr could do that, they could send me home I imagine

Not necessarily. Zephyr delivers letters between Royce and his wife, but he cannot bring her here. Now--

[He rubs thoughtfully at his beard.]

She is in one of the other god worlds. That may make a difference.

[furgood]

I suspect it'd different. You can't send messages too Norfinbury right? Why would Panem be different?

[devoutish]

It does no harm to ask, is the only reason I mentioned it.

[Unless she just doesn't want to get her hopes up. He couldn't blame her for that.]

[furgood]

I suppose I can ask...[She shrugs a little uncertainly]

[devoutish]

Well, you don't have to, certainly.

[furgood]

We'll see. I don't think they can do it but it might be worth the asking. I know some people would like to be able to send messages. But I think there would also be a time problem.

[devoutish]

A time problem - meaning one of time travel?

[furgood]

No, just. It's a when problem. I'm from like-- here. During the last battle of the war.

[She taps the crook of his arm.] Izzekiel is from nearly a year before me. Xanthous probably too.

[She walks her finger up his shoulder ] And Ellis and Phi are from further along. [ Slides her hand down to his palm ] Wrong time would be weird.

[devoutish]

And you knew all of 'em at home?

[He curls his fingers around hers, holding them.]

No chance they're from a different-- I dunno, timeline, I suppose you'd call it.

[furgood]

Most of them. Not Xanthous. He was before my time in the Capitol. But I knew Phi, she knew me, she didn't--it didn't seem like anything was different. Ellis knew me. Izzekiel didn't but he knew who I was just from--that's complicated. [She squeezes his hand] They could be. I suppose. I don't want them to be.

[devoutish]

Why not?

[He has a couple ideas, but he'd rather hear it from her.]

[furgood]

If they're from different timelines then something could change on my own. Maybe I don't make it through this last battle. Or my friends don't or-- [She shakes her head and squeezes his hand tighter ] I want to know that things turn out okay.

[devoutish]

[He nods, slowly. It's not a bad reason at all.]

Not a very nice worry to have hanging over your head.

[furgood]

[A shrug ] And those from times before mine, there's no saying things went even as well as they did in their timelines. Maybe the rebels lost or--I know it's selfish but there were plenty of times my friends or I could have not made it. So many. All the battles, in Four...[Deep breath ] It's not something I'd like to think about. Enough close calls as is

[devoutish]

Well - we'll talk about something else, then.

[He says, his eyes a little distant.]

Something better.

[furgood]

[She drops his hands and wraps her arms around him in a quick hug. She's seen that sort of look before] I'm sorry if I brought up something for you.

[devoutish]

Nah - it's all right.

[He sounds genuine there, at least, as he gives her shoulder a quick pat.]

We've all got things that worry us.

[furgood]

[Skeptical but sure] And you hear far more of mine than you should have to.

[devoutish]

I ask, don't I.

[furgood]

Well yes. I guess it's on me honestly.

[devoutish]

Does it bother you that I ask?

[furgood]

No not really. Most people just don't or if they do I can change the subject. So it's on me if I worry you're pulled with my worries and nonsense. I told them to you.

[devoutish]

You, my dear, might be overthinking this.

[He looks down at their feet in the water, curling his toes in the sand.]

Come - step out of the lake with me. Getting cold.

[furgood]

That's apparently where my mind had gone with things. Overthinking.

[She steps out, back onto the bank, trying to be careful not to slip on the grass ]
