Mm. [ Royce closes his eyes. ] Guess not. No. Probably won't.

[He sniffs again, and something liquid drops onto the side of Royce's face. Alfie brushes it away.]

Don't be. [ Royce murmurs, shifting to wrap his arms around Alfie's neck, hugging him. Soft: ] Don't cry.

[devoutish]

I'm all right.

[He says, his voice husky.]

And I've got you.

[bywolves]

I've got you. [ Royce murmurs, petting at whatever part of Alfie he can reach. ] We're both here.

[devoutish]

I'm supposed to be comforting you.

[It's an attempt at chiding, but not a serious one.]

[bywolves]

We can comfort each other. [ Royce says, with a huff. ] Don't think I'm not going to finish the prayers.

[devoutish]

[He rubs at Royce's back.]

[bywolves]

I like saying it. [ Royce turns his face to hide against Alfie's neck again. ] It doesn't... it doesn't hold the same significance as it does for you, but still.

[He says, still rubbing Royce's back.]

Yeah. [ He's relaxed and loose in Alfie's arms, mostly because of that rubbing. ] That's why.

[He notices the decrease in tension, and moves up to start rubbing his shoulders.]

[bywolves]

Mm. [ That feels really nice. He pets at Alfie's arm like a reward - it's almost more like stroking his arm. ]

[He murmurs quietly.]

[ Royce hums in agreement. ]
