[Luckily for Fiona, Alfie stays still - no reaction, and no sudden wake-ups.

The next morning, he wakes slowly. He doesn't notice anything is amiss at first - he feels his bags on one side of him, and Fiona on the other. Everything is as he left it; everything is as it should be. He yawns, still half-asleep, and leans towards her a little.]

[plundering]

[At some point in the night, Fiona actually managed to fall asleep, but not before putting on his bracelet and ring. It fits on her thumb, almost. Alfie wakes up, and his movement is enough to wake Fiona up, too.]

Morning.

[Her voice is still sleepy, and she blinks up at him, rubbing her face. She's almost forgotten about the jewelry until she feels the unfamiliar weight of his bracelet around her wrist. She'll just see how long it takes for him to notice.]

[devoutish]

[He gives a little mph in response, still less awake than she is. Then, a moment later:]

Yeah. Sleep all right?

[He doesn't notice anything yet. Give him about five more seconds, Fiona.]

[plundering]

Yeah, mostly. Those pills helped.

[They really did, even if she didn't sleep through the night.]

You?

[devoutish]

[He mmmphs again, and finally opens his eyes.

Something is off.

He doesn't sleep in his jewelry at home, and he only sometimes does here. If she had taken them all, it likely would have taken him far longer to nice. But he's missing one bracelet, and one ring - that's unusual.]

Who has them, you or the kid?

[plundering]

[Fiona is the picture of innocence.]

Has what?

[devoutish]

[He looks over at her, and-- clever girl. Lifting her hand in his, he raises his eybrows.]

Bit big on you, aren't they. You've got tiny little hands.

[plundering]

[Now she's smiling, just a tad smug.]

I think they look good on me.

[devoutish]

This one belonged to my great-grandfather. Father's side.

[He ghosts a thumb over the metal ring.]

It doesn't count when I'm asleep.

[plundering]

[She laughs, twirling the ring around her thumb.]

It counts. You can't move the goalposts now.

[devoutish]

If you had asked last night, I would've said the same.

[plundering]

I don't believe you.

[devoutish]

I have to be conscious.

[He slips a finger under the bracelet, but doesn't take it off her wrist.]

An obvious rule, yeah.

[plundering]

Tell me the other rules, then.

[devoutish]

I'll be reasonable. That's the only one.

[plundering]

You still don't think I can do it?

[devoutish]

I would like to see you try it.

[plundering]

Do I get anything if I manage it?

[She's stubborn and confident. She's completely certain she can do it.]

[devoutish]

[plundering]

[Fiona toys with the bracelet absently, still smiling.]

I've already got that.

[devoutish]

More of it, then. And a bit more brown sugar.

[plundering]

Mm. You can sweeten the deal more than that.

[devoutish]

[plundering]

[devoutish]
