Music. Poetry. Identifying someone's weak points and being rude about them. Coordinating and hostessing. I know how to manage money very well, when I actually have any of the bloody -

( that's skirting close to whining about her reduced circumstances; she course-corrects. )

I'm good at some things.

Do you also enjoy the looks on their faces when you figure out the right weak point?

There's a certain degree of satisfaction in putting someone to rights.

It's fucking fantastic.

I think what I enjoy, ( thoughtfully, ) is knowing that I could.

( not necessarily doing it, but sitting in quiet satisfaction with the knowledge that she could, any time she liked, tip someone off their balance. satisfaction in the seeing.

You don't want to fire off something prematurely, or - I don't know, waste the opportunity.

And you get the occasional idiot too stupid to be told, which isn't even shooting fish in a barrel, it's shooting a barrel and pretending there were fish in it--

I'm a terrible liar, that would probably be an issue. Other than that, though.

What makes you be a terrible liar?

My face, usually.

I'm not good at not - reacting exactly as I do, or pretending to be shocked about things, or acting like people who are incredibly stupid and boring aren't--

Those are things you can practice. Get better at. That's a learned skill, yeah?
