[ Royce takes Alfie's hand, squeezing it. ]

You okay? [ He actually has to stop himself from saying you okay, buddy? - for a second, he's flopped out on a tower with Hadrian, and he has to remember that's not the case. He's been too deep in his memories lately, he thinks. ]

[devoutish]

Yeah.

[He mumbles, lolling his head to the side and cracking an eye.]

I'm all right. C'mere.

[He gives his hand a tiny tug.]

[bywolves]

[ He very slowly picks himself up off the ground, wincing, and for a second he has to make sure he's not going to hurl again. Deep breath. ]

Yeah. Me too.

[devoutish]

[Alfie frowns, not expecting him to try getting up so quickly. He'll let go of his hand if he needs to, though.]

Oi.

[That's not coming here!!]

You look a bit green, mate.

[bywolves]

[ He's weak-kneed, so he's not going to stand up for very long. In fact, he actually just drops back down a little closer to Alfie, sitting up and looking decidedly queasy. ]

Feel that way. [ He says, faintly. ] Wind wasn't that bad last time.

[devoutish]

You're all sandy.

[Alfie fusses, brushing off the back of his shirt.]

No, we just had bad luck today, that's all.

[bywolves]

That's what happens when I lay in sand. [ Royce says grouchily. He's sour because he doesn't feel good. ] I don't believe in luck.

[devoutish]

Just an expression.

[Alfie murmurs. Royce has sand in his hair, too; he tries to brush that off, as well.]

Everything's still in the boat. We should set that up before we do anything with the memories.

[bywolves]

[ GRUMBLE GRUMBLE. He carefully leans a bit into the brushing, still green, and then curls forward and lets his head hang between his knees. ]

Yeah. We should. [ Deep breath. ] Just give me... a minute. Just one more minute.

[devoutish]

Take more if you need it.

[Alfie says, scrubbing a hand over his own hair.]

There's no rush.

[bywolves]

I wish I knew why this happens. [ He sighs out finally, lifting his head. He feels a little better, at least. ]

I'm okay. We should go.

[devoutish]

It's natural. Many people get seasick, mate.

[He holds a hand out to Royce, ready to stand and pull him up with him.]

Did you bring us a change of clothes?

[bywolves]

[ He wishes he knew why elves in particular get so bad, but that's a question he'll never get an answer to. Instead, he sighs and slowly lets Alfie help him up. ]

Mmhm. I did. It's in our bags.

[devoutish]

[His hero. Alfie slings an arm around Royce's shoulders and walks the two of them slowly back over to the boat, which is currently swaying gently in the tide. In a cruel twist of fate, the wind has died down completely now, even further out to sea.]

[bywolves]

[ Of course. Rude, wind. Royce leans against Alfie as they go, and when they get back to the boat, he grabs for their stuff. With a sigh, he hoists it up and onto his back, offering Alfie some of it. ]

I want to head in the direction we were before. With the crystals.

[devoutish]

[Alfie takes the mattress, tucking it under his arm as he grabs another bag from Royce, too.]

Is that where you want to do it, or do you just want to visit it first?

[bywolves]

It's where I'd like to do it. [ Royce says, letting out a sigh. ] It's a safe place to be. We can blow up the mattress again and lay out.

[devoutish]

[Alfie takes Royce's hand, twining their fingers together.]

Let's lie down and rest on it for a bit more before we do it. Eh?

[bywolves]

[ Royce holds Alfie's hand maybe a little more tightly than he usually might. ]

Okay. [ He says, quietly. Maybe a little hoarsely. ] I could - I could maybe use a small nap.

[devoutish]

So could I. I want you well-rested for this.

[bywolves]

I likely will need to be. [ He murmurs. ] Come on.

[ And he'll lead them to the spot he's talking about. It's an easy walk, quiet and just slightly apprehensive, but at least the seasickness is fading. He'll get them there, and start to set everything up, provided Alfie doesn't stop him. ]

[devoutish]

[Alfie doesn't stop him, but he does help, shooing him away from the toughest jobs like blowing up the mattress.]

You relax a bit, mate; I'll handle it.

[bywolves]

[ Royce has an air pump at least, so Alfie can use that. But Royce allows him to do that, pulling out their extra clothes and a couple of pieces of food - fruit and bread, mostly, things to ease his stomach. ]

Do you want some of the bread? [ Royce asks, glancing up at him from where he's sorting through their bags. ]

[devoutish]

Right now? Yeah.

[He gives the mattress a few more good pumps, then tests its firmness with a hand before snagging a slice from Royce. Ah, leavened bread. He's missed this.]

Is this old stuff from the before the holiday, or did you bake it yourself?

[bywolves]

I baked it myself. [ Royce says, taking a bite of it. It's - passable, though it's not as good as he'd like. The crust is a bit burnt. ]

Still trying to figure out how to do it. This didn't turn out too terribly, though.
