I pretty much hate my world, and I'm never going back to it if I can help it. I think I talked to you about that at one point. But I still miss my abilities, and I guess I wouldn't have them if it wasn't for that place. You know how hard it is to get used to not being able to move things with your mind, after you've had it for several years? Even now, I end up gesturing at things and looking stupid when I could just get up and get it. I really miss being able to tell the history of an object by touching it, too. That would be- okay, probably a little rough here. But maybe we'd know what the hell was going on afterward.
But at least we keep getting little bite-sized bits of the truth- would be better if we didn't have to live through it, but whatever. I'm still halfway convinced this is all made up for the purposes of experimentation, so 'truth' might be too strong of a word. But it is better than nothing. I'm hoping the high school and the church will have more for us, even if I'm not exactly excited to be going off to find a Prophet church. But who is, right? And I do think the three of us are a good group for exploration, although maybe not right at this very moment. Seriously, if Norfinbury could just give us a couple days without horrible brainwashing, that'd be great.
[ Oops- maybe he should change the topic. At least that's not hard for him. ]
So we'll keep heading west and hopefully being careful about it, but we can use the tunnels to get back to the northwest of town pretty easy now. Apparently there's a maze-like structure right about where Hsiaoke Pass is. But even so, you're not spending time freezing your ass off there, so it's not terrible getting turned around. It's dark, but I stopped caring about it being dark a long time ago. Kind of a nice change from all the snow....
[ He'll keep going like this for hours or until stopped, one topic melting into another and then another. ]

[He doesn't really mean safe safe, because what in Norfinbury really is? But as long as they're not literal deathtraps, they could be useful.]

[ Because Sylar is assuming he will. ]
I really wish we'd opened them up before, but I'm assuming that the Admin had to 'reset the origin trapdoor' or whatever it was we were supposed to ask her about back then.

[Guess who's completely out of touch these days.]

House has them marked on his map already. They're the buildings outlined in heavy black. There's quite a few spots in the residential area, and apparently they go all the way back to where the hospital is. Would've been nicer if they made it back to the grocery store- I'd really like to see that someday- but hey, they're useful anyway.

So I guess we better just keep Magenta away from them, unless he's learned his lesson by now.
[ He remembers that 'Should I open this door that says Do Not Open?' post. ]

[Alfie is Not a Fan.]
Not smart enough for it.

Maybe Magenta'll wait, though. I'd appreciate it if he kept a leash on him. Guy's gonna be a problem if left to his own devices.

Last night, when half of the people were wandering around- he was too. He killed a little boy- his patient, I think- and another woman, the same way Jia Xu was murdered. Ecks had to kill him to get him to stop.
no subject
Yeah. Heard about that. People being fucking idiots about it over the network.
[By "people" he basically just means Peter.]
no subject
He's new. [ Yeah, he means Peter, too. ] If he takes out his panic on John, though, he's going to lose friends pretty damn fast. Not that John will probably complain. I'm gonna bet he'll start blaming himself as soon as he revives.

I mean, I can't be too hard on him. I set up a whole grand plan to murder people, just so I could claim it was my own choice. It took me three years and this place to show me otherwise. He just doesn't want to admit it was luck, because then he might've killed Quark, too. Or whoever he was nearby. I get it.
But if anyone gets seriously hurt because of his denial, well. That is on him.

It's tougher to understand that you're not, when your world has been saying the exact opposite all this time. I bet that's what Peter's had going on.
I sure don't blame you for not having much sympathy, though. He has to learn this world doesn't care about him, and he's got to learn it quick. Have you run into other people that reacted like that?
[ He knows Al was, just recently- blaming himself for something none of them could stop. ]

[His tone is disparaging.]
Zidane - I lit into him for it, once. But he's gone now.

It's so refreshing to hear someone talk about superheroes like that. For once. I was mostly trying to avoid 'em when I first got here- figured they'd all do more harm than good and probably try to lock me up besides, somehow. But after the...what was it? The Avengers were all gone, I didn't see too much of the grandstanding.
But yeah, we don't exactly need people swooping in and thinking they'll fix the problem, or be above it. We need people working together. It's not exactly my forte, but even I'm trying in that area.
no subject
Yeah. You've got a good view of it, killer or not.

[ Can someone sound more self-satisfied right now? Sylar doubts it. ]
As it turns out, so-called 'heroes' ruined my life before I even had a chance to ruin theirs. So I've got a unique perspective on the whole thing. Comes in handy, in a place like this.
Al doesn't get entirely stuck in that sort of useless loop, thankfully. He can be reasoned with.

Exactly. After that- [ He sputters for a second, as his mouth is moving a little too fast for his brain and he has no idea how to refer to the event. ] - the convert-purge thing. It was the worst I've seen him. But even then, when he heard enough evidence that it really wasn't him, and that expecting himself to be able to fight it 'somehow' wasn't fair to anyone- he figured out how to move on. He can be reached scientifically, and look at the larger picture. It's all still raw now- of course it is- but he'll be okay.
And the fact that he can stand having me around when I'm trying to help out? That makes him generally more reasonable than some people.
