[If she were going for one of the bags he has held tight against his other side, he'd notice. But when she lifts the hand that she's holding, he doesn't so much as stir.]

[plundering]

[Perks of all that touching they've been doing, apparently. Slowly and steadily, Fiona slips her fingers from his, eyeing his bracelets in the dim light. No clasp, which makes it harder. Very carefully, she starts to slide one bracelet over his hand, stopping every time he seems like he'll stir.]

[devoutish]

[He does stir once soon after she lets go, twitching his hand and flexing his newly-freed fingers a little bit. But he doesn't wake fully, and after a minute or so, he's completely dead to the world again.]

[plundering]

[Fiona smiles when he twitches, waiting patiently until he's asleep again. Eventually, she slides the bracelet over his hand, feeling the links absently before slipping it into her coat pocket. She could go for one of the rings, too, she thinks, and she twists one around his finger experimentally.]

[devoutish]

[Again, he doesn't stir. His hand stays sitting on her lap, still and heavy.]

[plundering]

[So she'll slide off the ring, too, very slowly. That's too big to actually wear, so she rolls it around in her palm for a moment. Heavy. Expensive, too. That goes in her pocket along with the bracelet, and then she takes his hand again, lacing her fingers through his.]

[devoutish]

[Luckily for Fiona, Alfie stays still - no reaction, and no sudden wake-ups.

The next morning, he wakes slowly. He doesn't notice anything is amiss at first - he feels his bags on one side of him, and Fiona on the other. Everything is as he left it; everything is as it should be. He yawns, still half-asleep, and leans towards her a little.]

[plundering]

[At some point in the night, Fiona actually managed to fall asleep, but not before putting on his bracelet and ring. It fits on her thumb, almost. Alfie wakes up, and his movement is enough to wake Fiona up, too.]

Morning.

[Her voice is still sleepy, and she blinks up at him, rubbing her face. She's almost forgotten about the jewelry until she feels the unfamiliar weight of his bracelet around her wrist. She'll just see how long it takes for him to notice.]

[devoutish]

[He gives a little mph in response, still less awake than she is. Then, a moment later:]

Yeah. Sleep all right?

[He doesn't notice anything yet. Give him about five more seconds, Fiona.]

[plundering]

Yeah, mostly. Those pills helped.

[They really did, even if she didn't sleep through the night.]

You?

[devoutish]

[He mmmphs again, and finally opens his eyes.

Something is off.

He doesn't sleep in his jewelry at home, and he only sometimes does here. If she had taken them all, it likely would have taken him far longer to nice. But he's missing one bracelet, and one ring - that's unusual.]

Who has them, you or the kid?

[plundering]

[Fiona is the picture of innocence.]

Has what?

[devoutish]

[He looks over at her, and-- clever girl. Lifting her hand in his, he raises his eybrows.]

Bit big on you, aren't they. You've got tiny little hands.

[plundering]

[Now she's smiling, just a tad smug.]

I think they look good on me.

[devoutish]

This one belonged to my great-grandfather. Father's side.

[He ghosts a thumb over the metal ring.]

It doesn't count when I'm asleep.

[plundering]

[She laughs, twirling the ring around her thumb.]

It counts. You can't move the goalposts now.

[devoutish]

If you had asked last night, I would've said the same.

[plundering]

I don't believe you.

[devoutish]

I have to be conscious.

[He slips a finger under the bracelet, but doesn't take it off her wrist.]

An obvious rule, yeah.

[plundering]

Tell me the other rules, then.

[devoutish]

I'll be reasonable. That's the only one.

[plundering]

You still don't think I can do it?

[devoutish]

I would like to see you try it.

[plundering]

Do I get anything if I manage it?

[She's stubborn and confident. She's completely certain she can do it.]

[devoutish]
