[ He smiles a bit. ] No, you're not. It's not a bad thing. I like it when you listen.

YELLS i thought i answered this this morning

[devoutish]

And I like listening to whatever it is that you have to say.

[He's a big old sap. And they're nearly at the library now, so he's just going to gently steer Royce towards the doors.]

ITS OK i wasnt home all day anyway

[bywolves]

[ Aw, Alfie. Royce heads towards the library, ushering Alfie inside. ]

You pick the film. [ Royce says, grinning. ]

Oi. That wasn't the plan; we both pick the film.

[bywolves]

[ Huff. ]

I don't think anything is funny. [ HUFF. ]

[devoutish]

You think fewer things are funny. That's all the more reason for you to pick it out. I might pick the wrong thing.

[bywolves]

[ Royce hums, dragging Alfie along to look at the movies. When he finds one that looks acceptable, he shows it to Alfie and shrugs slightly. Eh. Good enough. He's not as interested in that as he is interested in the fact that they've got wine at the treehouse. ]

[devoutish]

I suppose that's as much of a rousing endorsement as I'm gonna get.

[He takes the box, peering at it. Huh. Okay.]

I've never even heard of this.

[bywolves]

I haven't either, but it sounds less ridiculous than the others. [ Royce says, peeking over Alfie's shoulder at the box. ] I doubt we'll end up watching it to the end anyway.

[devoutish]

[He sighs dramatically and rests an elbow on Royce's shoulder. Poor him; he's very put-upon.]

How am I ever gonna get you to laugh with an attitude like that?

[bywolves]

[ Stop being tall!!! ]

You make me laugh plenty. I don't need a film to do that for me.

[devoutish]

In London, we'd go to the theater; have I ever told you about that?

[He's just going to stay like this, reveling in his height over Royce.]

Yeah, we'd see comedians and comedic theater. It was a good way to unwind; to spend time together.

[bywolves]

Yeah, you mentioned it once. [ Royce elbows Alfie in the side, because rude. ]

You think it's strange to walk out on the street in a short sleeved shirt, and I think watching films made for the sole purpose of making you laugh are strange.

[devoutish]

Yeah, all right. We don't need to get one, if you'd rather not.

[bywolves]

I didn't say that. [ Huff. ] Come on. This one looks fine. Let's go.

[devoutish]

[Huff!! He pulls back a little, but only because it'll be too hot to drape all over Royce once they're outside.]

[bywolves]

[ It's fine, Royce takes his hand instead. He drags Alfie off towards the treehouse - though not before he whistles for their animals to come along. Lady weaves between their feet, meowing, as Bear practically runs ahead of them to go sniff everything.

Once they climb the stairs, Royce opens the door for Alfie. After you. ]

[devoutish]

[Alfie ushers the animals in with him, nudging Bear towards the rug in hopes that he won't make an immediate leap for the bed.]

Now I'm gonna have a shower, so that you'll touch me and all.

[bywolves]

[ Bear grunts, and dutifully goes towards the rug to sprawl out. Who knows how long he'll stay there. Lady, on the other hand, climbs to the tallest point she can and settles down for a nap.

Royce flops down on the bed, grinning at Alfie. ] All of this could've been avoided if you'd just worn the shirt, you know.

[devoutish]

You don't think I'd still be sweating even if I had?

[He gives Lady a pat as he passes by the TV on its stand, ducking into the bathroom.]

[bywolves]

[ She mrowls happily when he does. Royce, on the other hand, shrugs as Alfie vanishes. ]

Probably. Not as much, though.

[devoutish]

Enough that you'd fuss about it.

[And then he switches on the shower, after giving himself the last word.]

[bywolves]

[ Ass. Royce laughs to himself, and then flops out on the bed. Alfie likely won't take long, but Royce dozes anyway, like a cat in the sunlight that comes through the skylight above him. Lady comes to join him, sprawled out lazily on the bed next to him. ]

[devoutish]

[He takes about fifteen minutes - more than long enough to get the sweat off, but he luxuriates for a bit, too. After shutting the water off, he pokes his head out, sees Royce dozing, and smiles to himself before ducking back in to dress.

He'll come back out about ten minutes after that, mostly dried and dressed in boxers and that tank top. He still looks pretty ridiculous in it.]
