[Oh, Royce. Alfie pets his hair.]

[ Royce closes his eyes. ]

[ He swallows hard. ]

[He touches Royce's fingers.]

[ Royce hides his hands under Alfie's and doesn't answer for now. He's trying to think about anything else. ]

[He squeezes those fingers.]

They'll find new ways to torture us. They won't rehash the old ones.

Oh, good, what a relief. [ Royce says, weakly, but it's a little bit of humor at least. ] At least it's never boring.

[devoutish]

[That gets a tiny chuckle out of Alfie.]

I'd take boring, after this. I'd take retirement.

I don't know what I'm going to do if we ever get out of here.

We'll go live in a little cabin in the woods.

[Talking about this sort of thing is both easy and difficult all at once, considering he doesn't believe it'll ever actually happen.]

[ He doesn't think it'll happen either. He's pretty sure they're going to die here. ]

A cabin in the woods in a temperate climate, then. Italy.

With a heater. [ Royce mumbles, turning on his side slowly to hide his face against Alfie's chest. ] A comfortable bed. Food delivered to us.

[devoutish]

A hotel, then. A hotel in the woods, where no one will bother us unless they're delivering us food.

[bywolves]

Mm. [ Royce shivers. ] You're talking about it like I'd be there with you. On Earth.

[devoutish]

Well, Elan hasn't got electric heaters.

[bywolves]

True. Don't have electricity.

[ It doesn't matter. They're not leaving here, but. Royce is quiet for a while. ]
